This large reservoir of more than 4,000 acres produces good fishing for kokanee, landlocked chinook salmon and rainbow, bull and brown trout. BillyChinook produces the heaviest bull trout and landlocked chinook salmon in Oregon and also produces some lunker rainbows and browns. The kokanee fishery is more known for its numbers than for the average size of its fish. Billy Chinook also offers excellent fishing for smallmouth bass up to two pounds with catches approaching 100 fish a day not that unusual. There are smaller numbers of largemouth bass and bluegills have recently become established in the reservoir. Undoubtedly, there are or will be some brown bullheads and black crappies in the reservoir that have migrated down out of Prineville Reservoir.
