striking out in cowlitz
Maybe someone can help
but every time I go to the Cowlitz I seem to be striking out, I'm using corky and yarn, but is there some tip, like feeling the bite for the steelies that I don't know about? Looking for the 1st one ever to catch

RE:striking out in cowlitz
send me a pm of what you are using. leader length, size and color of corkies, how much lead, and where you are fishing, and hook size. i will let you know the do's and dont's and where to go.
If you love something set it free if it don't come back hunt it down and kill it.
RE:striking out in cowlitz
use spinners/spoons. Use small half dollar size glob of eggs. dont be married to the idea that you can only get a fish corky/yarn. The fish will bite..I rarely have seen a hookset compared to bait or hardware. I am wont use the 5 letter word here because thats been beaten to death..but think outside the box and dont conform to what i have been seeing at blue creek..
they use long leaders, at least 1oz cannonballs a shade of orange or red corky- small ones. some even use just yarn.

I struck out here too on Friday. I used it all. I was in good company though. There were a lot of empty handed anglers packing it in at both Blue Creek and Barrier. I did see some good fish from those who caught some.

RE:striking out in cowlitz
There still there. I just got another one saturday and my uncle got another one saturday afternoon. Whenever we go someone gets atleast one. Sometimes more. Right at daybreak or shortly before is best bite. Then just before dark. During the day bite seems to slow but there is still fish. I really cant give out my spots on the drift. But water level is dropping you can see the spots on the river where fish should be if you know how to read water. If you dont look for where everyone else is grouping up and fish there. Ill usually be the one thats away from the crowd catching fish
I hope to be going this week again. Need to get my car done first wife said, parts finally came in.

More fish please!

Sleds are doing worse then bankers right now it seems to me. I ran into a major snag on my car tonight and may have to pull the motor again. Grrrrr Ill know in a few minutes waiting for some jack stands instead of ramps. Hope it works I need to drop my oil pan and replace rod bearings. Well if it works Ill be heading down to the cow tomorrow. If not Im not sure when I get down next.
More fish please!

I have plans to head down there Friday evening. Plan on glow balling all night and then hit barrier at first light. I'm bringing a friend with me in a wheelchair so he can get some use out of that HC fishing area by the hatchery chute.

I got a text this morning that is was good for some members...NO strike out.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

The limit was recently increased to 3 summer steelhead and you can retain fish with right ventral fin clipped as well.

RE:striking out in cowlitz
Ive never seen one with the right fin clipped yet. And Ive not seen the actual posting about 3 fish yet. But I did see what someone posted. I am not a wiz on what bridges are where on that river but I do know where the mayfield dam is. Thats way up river. I have to look again at where the bridge is that there talking about but it may not apply to the bluecreek / barrier area. Im not certain.
