What's your experience in spring, do you use smaller lures or flashers in spring.
There are many articles that say you should size down in spring.
I use wedding rings only, and dont size down.
Just thought to start and opion poll on the issue, to liven up the trout page.:bom:

It can help sometimes, most of the time I don't worry about it. I usually troll Flatfish, occasionally I'll throw out a triple teazer or a canadian wonder or a needlefish that is smaller then a flatfish, and it helps.

I dont really think it matters. It makes sence, but I wouldnt put too much thought into it. If I am fishing for stockers I will use a smaller bait, and hold overs bigger bait, but the time of year dosnt really seem to mater. Last year I was fishing Mineral (the weekend after the opener) and was trolling a wedding ring and caught fish after fish. So I switched to a bigger set up to try and catch something big. I put on a double whamy, with a huge blade and a hoochie along with a tiny string of pop gear and put it right on the bottom. For 3 hours I was getting bite after bite but they were just taking half the worm, so I am pretty sure they were just the same stockers but couldnt handle the huge set up. Then when the bigger fish did take the bait it almost ripped the pole out of my hands. I think it also has a lot to do with the lake too. Some lakes its really small gear and others it bigger gear that does the trick. But you cant go wrong with wedding rings, they will catch any type of fish, in any lake, any time of day, 12 months out of the year. But I have caught trout that wernt much bigger than the needle fish they were caught on, and I have caught trout to 6lbs jigging for crappie with a 1/64 oz jig.
