Lake Chelan Cutthroat Trout Plant - NEW

Hey guys and gals from Salmon University:
Additionally, the Chelan Falls Hatchery crew has planted approximately 50,000 cutthroat into Lake Chelan that are about 6 inches long.
Time will tell if this fishery takes off...maybe they say how productive Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish have been in years past.
What do you think of planting Lake Chelan with cutthroat that will be in with the Mackinaw and other fish...will they survive? Thrive? Or die off? I guess only time will tell.
Interesting, I just ran across this today. In a year or two they'll be 14-20" long and ready for us fishermen/gals!

You know it didn't say. I'd have to do some further research. I'll try to find out...because that would definately matter the more I think of it...coastal, lahotans, etc. BTW...missed you out there today Bill. Oh well, hopefully another day. You didn't miss too much, I posted a report so it should be posted soon. I caught one 16"er and one 17"er. I think I may hit up Sammamish tomorrow.
Ahh, found it. They are Westslope Cutthroat Trout. That's clears it up!

I think that the macks will eat em all, hopefully not but thats probably what will happen time will tell.

I've been told the problem will be that these fish will try to spawn in the various streams and when the lake is drawn down (it is a reservior after all) the eggs will dry up and die. As to can they co-habitate with the macks - they better swim fast! There are a TON of macks in that lake and they are hungry.

Yep. I don't think they'll survive much more than a year or so...the Mack's will take them down.

The problem may be the trout stay at one depth level and the lakers are way deeper at another. TWL cutts are very pretty cutts but in most lakes don't get too big because they are very successful spawners.
It will be nice to have TWLs in a lake that one can put a motor on. Most TWL cutts are found in alpine lakes or small streams.
