Spring is just around the corner!

How do I know, you ask...
1. Our grass is growing. Mrs. Geek & I did our spring cleanup today (rake & mow). I'll be spreading lime & fertilizer in a couple of weeks.
2. There was a dead salamander by the side of the road by our house. They are not around during the winter.
3. A few nights ago I heard a lone frog doing the "hey baby" mating call.
4. Coyote activity at night is on the rise, which means there's more food available. It's fun to listen to them locate each other with yips & howls.
Does anyone have water temperature data that they would share? Smaller lakes will be warming up quickly in the next couple of weeks if we keep having sunny days.
I can't wait for the fish to start biting! I've been out of commission since August 15th because of shoulder surgery. Missing humpy season was a major bummer!

Humpy season for me is year around, no bum shoulder would keep me from humpy.

I'd be more distraught over missing coho's in the fall then humpies...

The warming trend will be halted by Wednesday as a more zonal flow becomes predominant over the Pacific. Long-range forecasts call for highs again in low 40's and lows in the low--mid 30's depending on locale. Winter isn't over yet!!

But, you never know with the weather! Cross our fingers and hope this warm-up keeps going and going, even if we have to settle with some precip. I must get out to some cutthroat soon!

Hillbilly, you really know how to hurt a guy#-o There still is 15" of undisturbed snow in my back yard and the lakes are covered with ice. The only thing keeping me sane is tying flies in my office and not looking outside.:pale:

It will be nice to not have to wake up and scrape windshields in the mourning.
I'm still in winter steelhead mode, native should be peaking soon...

Spring is here in CA! Been mid 60's for the past week, unfortunately it's cooling off to around 60 for the rest of the week, but I can't wait to be home in the Seattle weather...

Lake Tapps was 38-39 degrees. Not too spring like, but absolutely beautiful yesterday. Blue skies and t-shirt weather on the water. I was told Washington was around 46.

Signs of spring are showing up in the Basin, we saw our first Rockchuck 2 weeks ago and the Killdeers showed up in the yard last Friday. Won't be long now!

If Washington is 46 then lots of fishermen have been peeing off their boats.

Haha! Exactly. Washington should be more around 42.8-44.5F.

Well Bill, now that you mention it, Dibeert was trying to pee on my transducer to get a temp reading....

Speakin of Cassidy, did that toxic algae bloom ever die off? If it hasn't, I wouldn't expect anything but slime outta there this spring and summer. It can hurt the fish too as it eats up mass amounts of oxygen from the water.

Low and behold now the forecast is still on track for turning stormier next week, just looks like it's going to hold off until quite awhile here. In fact, temps long range now look to be in the upper 40's vs. the low 40's and lows holding in the upper 30's to low 40's. It seems like Spring is taunting us with such a nice streak of weather, but when it does turn cooler, we will be north of the storm track which puts us in colder air highs 43-49F with a chance of rain broadbrushing the extended. Can't really say any one time will be an extended dry streak, at least we got these last four days of amazing weather to get out and have a good time. FYI for those in California it's gunna turn rainier and cooler!!

I wasn't aware that there was a "toxic algae bloom". The water at Cassidy is always stained, but that doesn't hurt the fish. It does, however, make necessary to put lures right in front of their noses or they won't see it.

Spring is getting really close. Today I went to the store with shorts and a T shirt. I was in the coulee area last weekend and exactly a month before that, its like night and day. There was at least a foot of snow last month and its all pretty much turned to mud now. We also heard a frog and saw some sort of bugs landing on the water.
