I was down in Bozeman MT a few weeks ago chasing the Salmon Fly hatch on the Gallatin river and came across this guy, he also was having a fantastic day of fishing. Sorry if it is in the wrong thread.

When I was on the snake river by the Illia dunes last week I saw a garden snake in the shallows. Looked like he was fishing the small fry there or eating the bugs... hour later the camp next to me I heard "Damn I just killed a snake, I hate those things..." guess his fishing trip was short.

Zbo; yes that is a sculpin.
Proverb; They are called "Garter" snakes not Gardner. That is to bad someone killed the snake you saw. These snakes are not poisonous. They do more good than harm. If you catch one they do secrete a foul fecal matter though. Defense mechanism.
Kfedka; Garter snakes are great fishers. Very common on water ways.
That is the biggest fish I have seen one try to tackle. Snakes are amazing, he will eventually get that thing down.

Bill had a garter snake drop on his shoulder the other day when he rolled up our shed roll-up door. He did a little dance getting away from it as he grew up in Texas with all those poisonous snakes. We see a few garter snakes still but not like we used to even out here in the country.

Yeah I thought it was spelled garter but I wasn't sure and we always found them in the garden so I guessed. My fault. They're good snakes I have played with them a lot when I was a kid. They're cool snakes.

that would be a burmese python i beleive that pic was taken in florida they have quite a population of pythons from ppl letting them go cause they have gotten too big, what was once a cute 16-20 inch snake grew into a 10+ foot monster so they just let them go, the climate is right for them there and they are flurishing, i love snakes used to breed them.

A dead one
It's a python that was dumped in the Everglades. People dump their reptilian pets when they outgrow them, and this is what happens. Crazy stuff. I lived in Tampa for 8 years and fished the swamps pretty regularly. I've seen some pretty big snakes down there.

You should go jogging with me then. I alwayse see them and lil lizzards along the river.

The pond across from the river has a bunch and there is a lil feeder creek that runs to the river. There are a bunch of lil 2-3 ounce frogs that live there. Kinda funny how far back my 80 pound dog will jump when a lil frog jumps towards him.
