Sorry, I don't know. I tried googling an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) but I kept getting stopped. They said my puter was configured to block pop ups, and I'm not changing that. You might try calling the folks that would fine you if using TSP is improper. I've seen it used indoor and out, but never in an aquifer drainage situation.
Good Luck,

I did some research and its safe as long as it dosent go down a drain,or spill gallons into the yard.Seeing its an 8 footer I doubt I'd use more then a gallon total in liquid. As soon as the weather gets a tad warmer I'm gonna fix her up some. Thanks for the info and directions.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

You can't even buy real TSP anymore. too many phosphates for any body of water. Look at the packaging it probably has TSP in big letters and replacement in little tiny ones. Still it's not an apropriate prep for any kind of metal painting. Go to the boat store and get a jug of acid wash and do it right. TSP is for cleaning houses and fences before painting.

I stand corrected.

No worries, I've had to use both in earlier days and painted miles of metal. Steel, clean with Osfo, aluminum mucuric acid (sp). Both paint as soon as possible. o:) o:) o:)
