I use this. It's awesome. I've tried them all, I don't like vests. I've lost more tackle trays fumbling with stuff in the river, I leave the backpack on the bank, and it holds everything you need. Vests get heavy after a while, they drive me nuts. They also get soaked with rain, and then they get really uncomfortable. The waterproof tackle trays are excellent choices, and the upper part of the backpack fits snugly with a small drybox.
How do you pack your gear around?
Re: How do you pack your gear around?
Looks very similar to my Camelbak HAWG. I love my HAWG! Padded back, and straps with air channels to wick away moisture. And it has the chest and waist straps to lighten the load on your back. Hydration pack never hurts either. Plenty of room to boot. When hauling out heavy fish, I will tie my stringer to my pack and hump the fish out on my back. Much easier than trying to carry them with your arms, or dragging them, which would be a last resort.

mizm05: very nice unit. I'd wonder about the drag in current of a squarish object being a safety problem, but maybe if the edges of the styrofoam were tapered to plane upward? Anyway, nice and neat. Think I'll stick with the grandkid sherpa. Thanks for sharing that idea. Love the drink holder...
Re: How do you pack your gear around?
i carry the main part of my gear in a backpack with lots of organization compartments so i can easily access stuff, then i keep some gear in a hunting pack that goes around my stomach, like a fishing pack but much easier for me, so i can stay in my spot on the water for a long time, the backpack is just in case i lose alot of gear or something, but the tummy pack is the star here haha,
