I am headed out after I work a half day tomorrow and the lake and many lakes around here are less than 10 feet deep and all pretty much flat bottomed you can see the fish through your hole to the bottom what is the best way for picking a spot on a flat lake or does it evan matter? I figure the fish are cruising but what do I look for Grass, sand ect... ?
Thanks,
BBT

Finding cover on the bottom is always a good thing. Rock piles, the edge of weed beds, stumps and other structure if you can find it. Other than that that drill lots and lots of holes. If you have children make sure to take them along. Children like to drill holes almost more than fishing.
Good luck and stay safe on the ice.

Bragging may not bring happiness, but no man having caught a large fish goes home through an alley.

Howdy...Big D is right..Lot's of little holes will attract little fish that will attract your target fish. The light will be increased especially if there is snow on the lake. If you can chum, by all means do it.....if not...Watch out,you may accidentally drop a jar of Power bait with the lid off down the hole and ..OOPS! stuff happens.. Good luck to you

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.
