Hmm.. they just did the research in april. Takes a month or two to determine all the numbers. I'm think the end of June or so. Thats about the same time it got out last year.

Nothing official yet, but from what I have heard the nets are averaging 4 pike per net higher than last years.#-o

Yikes! That's 995 more pike this year if that four more pike per net average holds up. That's. 1750 pike over the last 2 years all in the name of "research". I don't like it.

Hey dudes..dont jump to conclusions on "hear say." You got a guy from colorado throwing I heards. Get the numbers from the bio's then you can have a clear vision to look at to evaluate. Hey Buddy, does your wife still have the record Northern in your family. That 44" incher you showed that she caught...isnt that way bigger than any you have caught to date? Just asking. She should be the Pike Princess.
By the way how does one get a "nickname" in your northern pike fantasy land? Todd

The one thing they did different this year mark is they spread the nets throughout the river, so the numbers are actually down from last year, but the the number of pike per net in the areas that they laid the nets last year is up by about 4 pike per net. From what I was told is the official reports will not come out until July seeing as how they are overwhelmed with work.

Hey MuskyHunter,

You sure can come off as being an arrogant angler, especially considering your position. I don't think I need to say much more than let's look at your track record and Yes I have heard from the horses mouth. I really don't think you should be throwing out any darts at Buddy or anyone for that matter in regards to what you think or believe to be true or not true. First of all what you believe to be hearsay is one thing, but before you go that far why don't you get your facts in line and know where the information is coming from. Remember there is an old saying "Don't throw rocks when you live in a glass house" We are all here for a reason and that is to become educated and to become better anglers and you coming on and trying to throw out little jabs at others I don't think promotes anything remotely within those guidelines, which would probably explain a lot of things. If I were you, maybe think of things more from a networking standpoint rather than from a bashing the crowds standpoint. You might be surprised at how many great anglers you come in contact with who would be interested in talking to you about fishing rather than trying to defend themselves against immature comments and off the wall statements that you make. Last I checked we are not in High School any longer and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out when someone is being a critic rather than trying to help. If you want to make comments towards others than maybe you should go take it up with the guy in charge of Washington Lakes and see how He feels about it. I am pretty sure He would back up almost everything I am saying. If I am wrong then I will not post another comment on this blog about it, but if you come to find out that He doesn't agree with what you are saying then I would suggest you rethink what you want to write against others. Plus why do you need to take jabs at others anyway? What is the point and what do you get out of it? I read more of your blogs that come off negative then they do positive, come on man, be an angler who shows respect and not discourse towards others. All you are doing is creating a hostile environment and relighting a fire that doesn't need to be relit. By the way what is your problem with Pike Names, I happen to be very proud of mine!!! How many people can claim they actually have a Pike and a Muskie nickname, not many I am sure, but it is something that I am very proud to carry!!! and I am certainly not going to listen to someone at your level belittle the fact of having a nickname, it's all part of the Angling experience and having comradery with others. Now hopefully I don't have to explain what that is. So can you just tone it down please and relax and maybe be a little more respectful of others on here and realize that the world doesn't revolve around you and your opinions or thoughts on fishing. You did say that You were from the Mid-West correct? If that is the case then from one Mid-Westerner to another I am standing here saying stop making the rest of us Mid-Western Anglers look bad, because you certainly aren't helping the cause.

Hey Dude,
I think you should practice what you preach and don't jump to conclusions on the information I post based on words I used within the post. I was on the electroshocking boats with the "bios" last year while they performed the northern pike study. I have their contact info and have stayed in contact with them and for this bit of information I emailed them to find out. I used the words, " I heard" as the official data has not been tallied yet and it won't be for some time, so I would rather not post information as if it were fact until it is official.

Yep the wife still has a bigger pike than me, but I don't see how that is relevant to the issue as hand or maybe you were trying to get under my skin. As far as I am concerned, it just goes to show you that a true trophy northern pike (pike 20lbs+) are an extremely challenging fish to catch. But I think we should leaves wifes out of this discussion as I know I could come up with a few nicknames for your wife.

What's a matter muskiehunter, you weren't getting enough attention on the other two forums that you have to come back to this one and start a fight?

Civil, well thought out conversations about our passion, fishing! While the Pike are a hot topic let us remember personal attacks don't do anyone any good. We can not educate the public or enjoy the pleasures of angling if we are fighting amonst ourselves. Grab a rod and reel, your tackle box, a good fishing partner and hit the water. We fish, therefore we are. >:"":>

I have talked to several guys that fish the Pike and they say the numbers are down as well. I would like to know what size Pike the bio boys are targeting as well as the numbers.

wow, seriously guys? Please don't use the forum to have these immature back and forths. Let's keep it civil here and you can visit other web sites and do the bashing to your heart's content there.

Thanks.
