My once yearly boat launch etiquette and safety rant…
One again a prime example of selfish people who don’t give a crap about anyone but themselves. I can’t imagine taking my sweet time at the launch holding up others. In fact I do everything I can to make my launch or exit from the launch as quick as possible usually taking about 3 minutes. I'm glad you called 911! They also didn't look old enough to have alcohol. Just one more reason to stay away from over populated lakes in the summer. I'm a bit surprised there weren't more 911 calls since there was such a long like waiting over an hour to launch. Amazing but typical!!!!!

Try living where I work on 12th and Yesler. The bass from the stereos outside set my alarm off at my business.I know I sound like my grandparents like I remember but the music of today just stinks. Not to even mention the vocabulary being used as lyrics. Its gross and racist sounding. In 5 years the whole next generation will not be able to hear any bass in anything. To me while fishing music dosent belong. The vibrations alone would scare the fish away.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Hehehe.. When I get a call from the alarm company to come down here at night I'm packing like Rambo. The cops look at me like I'm crazy.Allthough I'm finding out that mace or pepper spray is really the way to go.

agree! I turn my son's music down in his car all the time. Put on some Led Zephlin - now that is good music to play loud!racfish wrote:Try living where I work on 12th and Yesler. Yup! We're turning into old fuds just like our parents were. My dad in the mid '60's used to say that the U.S. "was going to hell in a hand basket when they allowed The Beatles into the country". "They don't know what good music is"! he would say. In the late '80's I was up at his house and we were sitting in his home office visiting. I noticed that he had just bought a new boom box and had it tuned into a FM station that was playing instrumental music, ie. "easy listening". He was so proud of the sound he turned it up a bit to demonstrate the quality of the sound. He got a big smile on his face and commented to me how beautiful the music sounded. I smiled and agreed. He said the station plays such beautiful music. I once again agreed. The song that was playing was quite familiar to me and I asked him who wrote the music. He said he didn't know. I smiled gently and said "Dad, that song is "Yesterday". It was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, who were two of The Beatles." "It was one of their biggest hits in the '60's." He got a sheepish grin on his face and said "very nice". I laughed and said "I told you that 25 years ago!"Mike Carey wrote:agree! I turn my son's music down in his car all the time. We both had a good laugh.

fish on!
You know, since I am that generation allow me to add this... it's okay to get a little wild and freaky until it starts intruding on others.saltyseadog wrote:its a diff. generation... dont get weird about it.. yeah i like to fish... and i like to go "out" on the boat for the day, as long as the operator aint boozin all is well..hewesfisher wrote:Nice targets for a 50 cal.Big D wrote: From a mile away...![]()
PS. It's not just a different generation. I think it's just a whole different class of boaters who don't practice any real boating etiquette when using the water, which includes not intruding on others with your music.
Personally, the music doesn't bother me. I find the bass get stupider when hip hop is played. Makes for easy catching.
