Yes but what are your thoughts on initiative 1069?!!!
Ballot Title
Statement of Subject: Initiative Measure No. 1069 concerns the state seal.

Concise Description: This measure would require the Washington State Seal to depict a tapeworm attached to a taxpayer’s intestine, encircled by the words: Committed to sucking the life blood out of each and every taxpayer.

Should this measure be enacted into law? Yes [ ] No [ ]

Ballot Measure Summary
This measure would require the Seal of the State of Washington to be changed to depict a vignette of a tapeworm dressed in a three piece suit attached to the lower intestine of a taxpayer shown as the central figure. The seal would be required to be encircled with the following words: “Committed to sucking the life blood out of each and every tax payer.” The illustration would be selected from submissions submitted by taxpayers.
This is actually on the ballot.

Owning a business in Wa. state I always thought that was our state seal. Better then a tapeworm would be a Leech and a Sealion.

Interesting. Forbes just published their listing of "The best states for business and careers". Utah was first and, drum roll please, Washington was 5th. Not bad but last year WA was 2nd. If you're wondering who was in last place it was Maine.
Things are definitely not as bad in WA as some perceive it to be.

That initiative is ridiculous. I saw on another forum a mock up on the image for the potential "new seal".

The full initiative can be found here: www.sos.wa.gov/elections/initiatives/text/i1069.pdf

Also, it is pertinent to note that, "Initiative 1069 is directed at RCW 1.20.080. it is not about changing the state seal. Article XVIII of the Washington State Constitution states, The seal shall be the vignette of General George Washington as the central figure, and beneath the vignette the figures "1889." This cannot be changed by an initiative. Initiative 1069 is designed to send a loud and clear message to our state government that we have had enough of tax and spend policies. We want a transparent fiscal accountability government and no more taxes."

Nope, just stating the facts. Even if the initiative passes the seal will still be the dead presidents' head, that's all. It is listed in the constitution as such. It was designed to send a message not to actually change the seal.

Not saying I believe/disbelieve agree/disagree with any of that sentiment, just laying the facts out as they are.

There is no such initiative on the ballot. At least it wasn't in my Washington State Voters pamphlet or on my ballot.

1069 Initiative Sponsors

BTW, I did a Bing search for Initiative 1069 Washington and our forum thread came up first page, #6 on the list!

That's encouraging. That means there are still a few rational people left in the state.[wink]

yup, there's plenty of things to be unhappy about, but wasting time on something like this is - wasting time.

Very clever way of expressing an opinion. One of the many reasons we can all agree we live in the best country in the world, regardless of what side of the aisle we lean toward.

I don't think that using a pornographic term for labeling anyone is appropirate for this site (or any site except Daily KOS).
