If so what do you think of this rifle, trigger, stock combination. Looking to get one but kinda hesitant due to the fact that savage used to be a lower end rifle. Thanks for info if ya got any.

The only thing "lower end" about a Savage was their appearance and price. They have always had a strong reputation for being highly accurate right out of the box, something many other fancier, mass produced rifles were not. Many people claim the Savage to be ugly because of the barrel nut and their plain stocks, turns out the barrel nut is partly responsible for the inherent accuracy. Due to product liability lawsuits and corporate attorneys, trigger pulls were horrendous and hard to adjust. Replacement triggers became readily available, but were not easily installed by the average owner. Fortunately, Savage followed that up with the Accutrigger, which received rave reviews by almost every gun writer out there. Not to mention the new triggers were fully adjustable by the user, so no 'smith work was required to get an acceptable trigger pull.tommytitan08 wrote:If so what do you think of this rifle, trigger, stock combination. I have several Savage rifles, all pre-Accutrigger/Accustock. Each of them will put three shots out of a cold barrel in a tight group I can cover with a nickle. I have several "pretty" rifles too, but I'll take functional and accurate over pretty any day.

I have wanted to buy a new Accutrigger Savage in 7-08 for a couple years, but haven't been in the field for longer than that, so can't really justify buying another rifle when I have plenty already.

For the price of a Savage you can get a Rem. Remington's are alot more dependable and accurate plust they look better:-" I have a friend here that sells savages at the store he works at he told me to save my $$$. Some of their guns shoot straight but 1 out of 3 I heard can be hard to get to shoot accuratly... I have never had a remington that wouldn't
