Re: Outboard for 14'?

I have a 55 lb minn kota. Not worried about troll speed. I would jump on one of several 15 hp I've seen if I know it could make any kind of headway on local rivers or the Columbia. I was refinishing the wood in the boat and misplaced the specs but I believe max hp was around 20 hp. Does anyone have ...

Re: Outboard for 14'?

Will a 15 hp likely be capable of moving this size boat upstream? Up to about 900 lbs total? I have a trolling motor, so I'm not looking to troll under engine power.

Outboard for 14'?

I am looking for an outboard for a 14' starcraft. If it was just for lakes I would go with a 9.9 but I would also like to take it on rivers. How large of a motor do you think would be required to push it upstream on the Snohomish, say when the pinks are running? Where are good places around the grea...

Looking for people to fish with

I move to the Lynnwood area this last January for an engineering position. Still don't know a whole lot of people. I am looking to get out fishing more than I have been and I figure it can be more fun, not to mention safer, if there are other people to go fishing with. Right now I am looking at doin...

Anyone want to show me the ropes?

So I haven't fished for coho before and would like to get out for them next weekend. I was wondering if there is anyone with experience that will be heading out that wouldn't mind showing me the rigs and tackle used and what kind of water to cast into and that sort of thing. Even if you aren't all t...

Re: best bet for shore fishing?

Sounds like west side of Whidbey should be good for salmon in a couple weekends when I will likely be looking to fish again. How about for other fish like surf perch or any other fish that can be caught from shore? From what I have read these have declined in numbers in the sound and best bet would ...

best bet for shore fishing?

If I were to go fish the salt from shore in the next couple weeks, what would some of the best bets be? This will be my first time fishing the salt, so far the best idea I have is to go fish the westport area. I would be interested in just about anything that will bite.

Re: Small boat fish finders

I think that covers most of what I need to know, thanks.

Another question though, how much easier would it be to read bottom structure with something like a 200 dollar range unit than a 100 dollar range unit?

Small boat fish finders

I have a feeling that I may be asking a question that has been covered many times and am just not looking hard enough, but can anyone recommend a fish finder in the 100 dollar-ish range for a small boat (a pram right now but it may be different should I decide to build something else). I dont think ...

RE:Crawfish Traps?

Yup .Bodo has that correct. I used chicken wire rolled into a tube shape. On either end I made a funnel opening.Tie a rope to it and drop it down.I use a can of catfood for bait. Easy..... If you read the regs - your trap isn't legal. There has to be an escape door secured by a tie that can rot wit...

RE:using shrim to catch bass

from the game regs "It is unlawful to possess or use live aquatic animals as bait, except: 1. Live aquatic animals (other than fish) collected from the water being fished. 2. Live sand shrimp. 3. Live forage fish in the Columbia River downstream of the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line." So yea, you can...

Panfish next week

If i were to go to the i-82 ponds or Scootney area lakes or quincy area lakes next week, what would be a good way to pursue some panfish, as in depth, and matters of the sort.

RE:ID-ing Brooks and 'Bows

There are several "Sub-Species" of Rainbow Trout that have evolved in some of the more isolated water ways. Golden Trout, Red Band Rainbows, Sacramento Golden.....and the list go on. golden trout arent rainbows and arent native either. golden trout are their own species from somewhere in the southw...

RE:smoked bass

i agree about the oil content, im thinking if i do this again i wont flavor the brine and then use the resulting product for something like soups. Just made a smoker and have been playing around with what i can smoke just about every weekend.

smoked bass

So yesterday I had one bass to do something with. I figured since there wasnt much to ruin if it did get ruined by it I went and smoked it. It just came off the smoker and it tastes pretty good. I had brined it with kind of a teriyaki flavor overnight and smoked it on high heat with cherry wood for ...
