How to track the salmon through the river
Talking with a fellow angler at the Duwamish I was told that the Coho run was starting to slow down as they moved upriver. Are there any resources to figure out how upstream the fish are?

Re: Salmon Steelhead Rod/reel Under $150
I have the SST and like it a lot. The Sedona 4000 might be a bit heavy for that rod--depending how much you value balance. I have an OKUMA RTX 35 and it feels nice. Shopping tip: If you are an Amazon shopper be sure to check out "used" from the Amazon Warehouse. They aren't really used, but returne...

Re: Boatless Salmon fishing, Sunday 9/20 (Seattle)
How safe are the Duwamish access points? I am not familiar with South Seattle but I know it gets sketchy in some places

Re: Stocked Trout Fishing
Real salmon eggs do work well for rainbow trout. They tend to work best around the time salmon are spawning. I would try sticking with real salmon eggs. I've had a lot of success with spinners also. Here's a good resource on Rainbow Trout Fishing Would they work on stocked trout that would never ha...

Safe Salmon/Steelhead River bank Fishing
Just about every one of the well known fishing spots I read up on has numerous reports of homeless people and/or druggies, and other sketchy dealings going on. I love fishing, but not enough to get my vehicle broken into or get stabbed with a needle over fishing. Do you guys have any suggestions for...

Re: Salmon Steelhead Rod/reel Under $150
I cannot be much help with reels (most of mine are either hand me downs or an Abu Garcia that I would not recommend), but keep an eye on Ebay, Craigslist or Offerup, you might be able to get a nice used one reasonably priced. I got a 4000 Sedona and quite like it, but I think the guys at johns spoo...

Re: Salmon Steelhead Rod/reel Under $150
I like my Okuma SST Salmon rod. I use it for most everything, just swap reels for various types of fishing. If I recall it was reasonably priced, then just choose your reel of choice. I picked one up and love it. Lightweight, quality feel, and well balanced for the price. Unfortunately the splurge ...

Native trout fishing
I have been looking to get into fresh water shore fishing but have been having issues finding information online and in books. I know we have a few mountain lakes and urban lakes stocked with trout, and we have catch and release cutty on our beaches, but we can’t keep any. Stocked trout tend to be s...

Salmon Steelhead Rod/reel Under $150
I went out on the water with some family friends and I decided to take my casting rod to add a third pole to the mix to add some entertainment. Unfortunately one of my friends decided to dunk said pole in the water. As a result I am now in the market for a new Salmon/Steelhead pole and reel. My late...

North Sound Beach Fishing
Is there any beach fishing to speak of in the North Sound? I have heard that Boeing Creek has a Salmon population. Could one target salmon as they entered the mouth of the creek, or at the creek itself? Hows Deer Creek?

Looks like a lovely time. Decent fishing, easy to access while not being crowded, and lovely views.

Any tips on catching resident Coho?
I am very new to fishing as my post history shows. I apologize for my numerous questions. I went out to Jeff head and marked quite a few Salmon between 50-100 feet deep. Unfortunately the only thing that decided to bite was a tiny shaker. I used a purple haze and a crocodile spoon and then a green r...

Looking to get started in Lingcod Bottom Fishing in the Puget Sound: What Fishing Line/Sinkers should I buy?
My dad took me fishing with his fishing buddy almost every week as a kid. We parked our boat ten years ago and haven't been since. Last week was the first time me and him went fishing outside of yearly charter trips. I ended up catching a Rockfish I had to release, and either a super big Lingcod tha...
