In addition to banks lake, I might as well give this reservoir a try as well since ill be in grant county for 9 days.
How's the bank access?
And how shall my luck be?
Does anyone know how my luck will be for walleye and bass, cause looking through reports it's pretty slim chances.

Re: Banks lake, bank fishing in July
Thanks y'all,
I'll be looking forward to trying out some of these tactics shared here.
Thinking crankbaits, rooster tails, Dick nite spoons, curly tail grubs and bobber&worm.

Banks lake, bank fishing in July
I don't care about how the fishing will be in July but will be in the area for some work. So I'm wondering how is the bank access on banks lake?

Re: motor not starting
what is the problem? sound like maybe you have it running? I will say when I was having a similar issue where the motor would run, but seemed to have no power, I went through everything, starting with plugs, carb clean, and ended up having to buy a brain for mine- basically the spark wasn't getting...

Re: motor not starting
So I figured that the flywheel isn't spinning fast enough or long enough for the motor to start. How I figured his was looseneing the flywheel nut. Dangerous and I won't do it no more, but when I did that, the motor started in 2 pulls.
What could be the problem now?

Re: motor not starting
Im amazed you got it to start! I will be absolutely astounded if you get it to run well :) By the way, from the way you worded things it sounds like you started the motor with it out of the water. Thats not a good idea at all. The water pump in outboards is a rubber impeller spinning inside a stain...

Re: motor not starting
Update: Got 4 strong friends to help me pull the motor. At the 14th continuuous pull it fired up. Stuck it in a garbage can of water. Spit water real good. But the motor doesn't idle well. Throttle must be open for it to say idle or stay on. So we turn off and play around with adjusting the screws a...

Re: motor not starting
Update: Got the new carburetor and it's really similar to the stock. Only difference is the shafts. After some adjustments to the shafts, I plug it in. I tried to start it up and came up again empty handed. So now there's gas in the float bowl, i can somewhat hear the carburetor sucking in air, I ca...

Re: Mercury 9.8M
Problem solved. I should get a knckle to the head for this. I called a specialist to just help me run basic home check to see if it's anything major. He told me to make sure there is clearance for the prop at the bottom so nothing contacts it. So there I am putting the motor into the barrel and sure...

Re: Mercury 9.8M
NEVER shift an outboard motor into gear, forward or reverse, if the motor is not running. There is a dog clutch to connect the drive gear to the driven gear and if the motor is not running (or the prop spinning) and the teeth aren't lined up perfectly, it won't go into gear. Attempting to force it ...

Re: Mercury 9.8M
What don't make sense is that when my friend showed the neutral/forward/reverse, they were all working and just 2 days later when I try it, it don't work. ](*,) I'm defiantly not a professional, but I did buy broken outboards and fix them up. My most recent was an early 90's 8hp Nissan-seemed to work...

Mercury 9.8M
So I upgraded from my 5hp to this 9.8hp mercury. I bought the motor off a friend and he was able to show me the neutral, forward and reverses were all working. I get home one day, start it up, warm it up. Try to put it into forward and reverse myself and the engine makes a loud thud and dies off. It...

Re: motor not starting
Yes your correct there should be a hole in the end. This is where the gas mixes with the air. There should be a jet at the other end of it that will only allow so much gas to pass thru the air coming in the carb pulls thru that tube and into your carb. Yeah I see. Well I just came to the conclusion...

Re: motor not starting
Wait a minute, please someone clarify. Is tip end opening of the needle/nozzle suppose to be big (that a toothpick could go through it)??? Post a picture please. The needle's job is to stop the flow of gas into the bowl that is it. There are some that allow gas to flow through it by design, these a...
