N.W. Sportfishing February Newsletter- Lake Chelan

Chelan Winter Kokanee Starting earlier and earlier every year I find myself east of the mountains on Lake Chelan. With its beautiful scenery and abundance of fish, its no wonder this is becoming a “go-to” spot for winter fishermen looking to shake off some cabin fever. With both the towns of Chelan ...

Re: Lake Chelan/ Lake Stevens Kokanee!!

All my deposits are $100. I don't like doing deposits on Lake Stevens but I had a rash of no shows last year that prompted the change.

All NWFR member's will receive $50 off for Lake Stevens trips. this is only going to be good for early booking this month. That's $250 for the boat!

Lake Chelan/ Lake Stevens Kokanee!!

ITS TIME!!! While Lake Stevens doesn't "kick on" until around April or so, Lake Chelan is kicking out healthy 15-16" Kokanee, some healthy land locked Chinook, and of course Lake trout are always on tap! We are getting this fishery dailed in earlier and earlier every year and we have already began t...

Ole' Oneshot has been a busy boy with a new little family member and work stuffs. He is planning on returning for the Pink/Coho season during our last convo. He is usually pretty quite unless he is out fishing.

Re: New law increases requirements for fishing guides

Well we already have stickers on the side of our boats, and the insurance and business licence have been a requirement for years now. Also being CPR and First aid certed. You also need a OUPV from the Coast Guard to guide on federal water so I am curious what is actually changing.

NW Rods for Sale

I am selling a few of my babies to make room for some new rods. These are custom build NW Rods. One is a 9' Medium Heavy spinning rod. I used it all of 4 times. Works as a great bobber rod and a heavier side drifter. Nice red wraps with silver carbon handle, super light. I also have two rods that ar...

There is so many HUGE oversize females in there right now. I wish we had a better tagging system so we could see if these are indeed fraiser fish.

I leave the river name out for a reason. And it is in a slough, but the location is off by about 35 miles

Sturgeon 2015

I have been hitting one of my favorite river systems for about two weeks now and it has been nothing short of insane! Multiple hook ups per day with some fish well into oversized territory. One nice thing the warm water does is make these fish extremely willing to bite and they are not sluggish when...

Re: Lake Stevens kokanee -2015

As the thermocline moves down we have started picking up bigger fish. Out of 52 fish on Saturday the Average fish was 12.5-13" and ten fish were over 14". including a 15" fish that came from 55' down. Like any other Kokanee Lake, Lake Stevens tends to go in cycles. And with the over abundance of fis...

Re: July Sockeye on the Big C

That may be a tad early for Brewster but it is worth a shot. With the early warm up the Ok should be running really warm by early July and set up that road block that everyone likes fishing. Staying around the Brewster area would make it a short run to fish below Wells too

Re: Lowrance hds3 / Downrigger weight messing up sonar view

I actually do make and sell these. I'm in Snohomish. Price depends on weight. But a 9 pound weight uses 13" of 1 1/2" scd40 stainless. High quality run on top and a ring about 4" down to attach your release

Re: Lowrance hds3 / Downrigger weight messing up sonar view

I starting using stick weights for this very reason. They also have less blow back, track better, dont hang up as easy, and plus they look cool!

Re: Drift boat repairs

That was a bad hit if it did that much to the boat. If I had it I would grind that spot out and check for any cracking going anywere, then start cutting and laying fiberglass over the spot until its flush with the rest of the boat. Then you need to gel coat or paint over it to seal it and keep water...
