Re: New to Anacortes - Looking for a good place to fish
There is also Heart and Erie right by you, but they will be shoulder to shoulder fishing. Usually very good first few weeks after opener.

Re: New to Anacortes - Looking for a good place to fish
Cranberry lake at deception pass. Lots of shore access and a dock at the park entrance. Cast and retrieve gold spoons or plunk power eggs using 1/2 to 1 oz slip sinker and 3-4 foot leader.

Re: Latest info not looking like sunshine and roses......
Crazy, I wish I knew this was a possability when I purchased my licensing this year, there is no way I would have purchased a combinatin license if I knew this was happening. Makes you wonder about that huge push the WDFW made to entice people to purchase their licenses early this year, do you thin...

Re: Latest info not looking like sunshine and roses......
I haven't been able to decipher if 8-1 and 8-2 will be even open for pinks. I will lose my mind of the runs are much larger again this year than forecasted and they don't open up the salt again like last year. Edit - I can't read a map this morning! Do all the Skagit fish come through MA 7? Do Stil...

Ugg... "Marine areas 8-1 and 8-2: Both areas will open to fishing for hatchery chinook in November. However, anglers in Marine Area 8-2 can fish from the shore for hatchery coho Aug. 1 through Sept. 4." Ok, I can deal with fishing from shore for Coho, BUT, Coho typically don't show up in 8-2 until S...

Re: Cold April Kokanee?
Depends on what your boat is like. Chelan if your boat is safe enough to handle possible heavy chop/wind. It can be like glass there then the wind can really pick up and howl, blowing smaller boats off of the water. Also need to be able to get down deep right now. Reading of folks catching between 1...

Re: Spring Trout
Fishin'daze, There are actually quite a few western Washington lakes that do have quite a few hold over fish. There are a few reasons why you don't hear about it much though. Most people trout fish the spring. This time of year with so many plants that will hit just about anything, the hold overs ne...

Re: Kayak for sale?
It's going to depend on what you fish for, and what your price ceiling is. I personally fish out of a Hobie Pro Angler 14 (14ft Kayak) that is a sit on top, pedal drive, so hands free fishing. It suits the he type of fishing I do. But's its also on the top end for price. Honestly, the best one will ...

Re: Spring Trout
A few things about spring trout fishing. Fall/Winter fish will always be larger, they have had all spring/summer to grow. Recently planted fish the past few years have been running in the 10-12 inch range, which is actually larger than in years past. So catching larger fish in the fall/winter is wha...

Re: Kokanee Tackle Box
I probably don't switch gear out enough from what I read. I always TRY to remember to change something if no bites for 30 minutes. Running 2 lines, if 1 is getting bit and the other is not, I of course switch to as close to that lures as I can, at least by color. I don't change dodgers much. I am no...

Re: Kokanee Tackle Box
Trolling speed on Stevens I've found most success between 1-1.5mph. I prefer size 6 Gamakatsu drop shot hooks. You'll find lots of different opinions on hooks/sizes though. Mike and crew have video's on Samish, Stevens, and Cavanaugh for kokanee. Samish I've never fished, but I do know you need an A...

Re: Kokanee Tackle Box
Kokanee are fickle, so it's hard to get an exact use this for this temp/condition etc. Early season though I find pink, violet/purple, silver/brass and orange to be the most useful colors. As the year goes on I find I head more towards greens, orange. But what they want changes no matter what I thin...

What type of fishing do you like to do? For lakes, Riley and Armstrong are close. I've never fished them, but a friend fishes Riley and every so often pulls out a real nice rainbow, one went 9lbs. Both I think are April-Oct lakes. The Stilly and Sauk are close for rivers, but both are fairly barren....

Re: What fishing is available for November
Yea the shoecraft launch is very primative, and there is a small narrow channel to navigate through to get to the lake. It might be 3ft deep at best. Goodwin launch can accommodate just about any size boat. Just a long walk to and from parking to the launch.

Re: What fishing is available for November
Last time there, a little over a week ago my set up was a size 4 olive woolley bugger with 18-24 inch 10 lb fluro leader, attached to a macks 4 inch chrome double d dodger. I fished in 30-32 feet of water at 25 feet on the downrigger on the southwestern end of the lake. The other line was a size 6 d...

Re: What fishing is available for November
I've not fished Shoecraft in the fall/winter, but I have Goodwin, and I prefer Goodwin in the fall/winter over the spring/summer. Goodwin gets planted with a lot of 6-8 inch trout (17k or so) in October. I can typically avoid them by fishing a bit deeper 15-25 feet down, and using a bigger presentat...

Hmm, makes me wonder how you know this so well! I know that its tweakers and drug addicts for the most part but calling it a way of life is an effin disgrace and it is a choice. I choose to obey by the rules because for me it is a way a life and want to see our natural resources used by those who f...
