Re: How long does a open scent bottle last?
Same here....I'd be more worried about the oils going bad, but frankly, it's mostly about covering up the human scent in my opinion. I've had luck with scents that are 5-10 years old....so who knows what the shelf life is. The Anise scent I've had forever still smells like Anise.

Re: Thoughts on Waders for River Fishing Winter
You'll find a lot of opinions on this and many will recommend Simms due to their quality and durability. The warranty is nice too, so if you do have a leak you can't easily fix you can send them in. I think my next pair of waders will be Simms. However, there are many that will serve you well. Sound...

I was a bit surprised that they were already getting sores all over which indicates to me they've been in the river a while. The run doesn't really seem to have made it into the system yet though, so these must be pretty early returns.

Have got a couple old and moldy ones on the upper Green, but have yet to get a fresh looking one on that system this season.

Quadfather from this site built a wooden pram a number of years ago. Here is a link to his thread. He's still around, so you can reach out to him as well.

Re: Beaver Lake question
I’m pretty sure on Beaver you’re not supposed to have the gas outboard on the boat at all, but have seen people out there with them up and bagged.
You can always try it and see if the authorities show up. They’d probably only give you a warning the first time if that’s the case.

I vote structural element along with a thick enough piece of “rail” material that would support mounting whatever accessory one might want.

Google “spade end” or “blind eye” hook.
They can be used for fly trailers or some people like fishing with them.

Re: Visual Distress Signal Reuired On Lake Washington and Sammamish?
If you look at the definition block at the bottom of that page it defines the rivers and bays as having to be two miles wide. Think one could argue that the lakes may not be two miles wide....at least for Sammamish.

Re: Salmon setup question
That’s a lot of drag on just an electric motor. Your best bet is probably that rotator style flasher on the bottom vs the other one. Also, Coho prefer faster speeds, so you’ll be in the Kings/Pinks range, but Kings tend to run deep and are not open there anyway, so maybe change your terminal offerin...

Re: Looking for tips for buying a used boat
When I bought my Trophy it had a Merc 125 saltwater 2-stroke, and I couldn't get it off the boat fast enough. Just a turd!!!!! Love my Eninrude Etec. 2-strokes are good if you get like a 2000 or later. The newer motors are more fuel efficient and nearly to no smoke. The Etec's start instantly and h...

Re: Looking for tips for buying a used boat
Outboard question: I had wanted a 4-stroke main, but a lot of boats I’m looking at have a 2-stroke main and a 4-stroke kicker.
Opinions on a Merc 125 saltwater 2-stroke?
Or is it a mistake to go with a 2-stroke at all?

Re: drain plug
Drain plugs are pretty standard at 1", but there are a couple of options. Unless for some reason it's an oddball, you should be able to get a replacement at any marine supply store or maybe even a place like Fred Meyer or Walmart. I've found a number of them metal detecting and when I replaced the o...

Re: Looking for tips for buying a used boat
Thanks Chris. I know you've had your share of experience with boats (of all sizes!). Haha. I see this as as "starter" boat, so trying not to get too wrapped up in getting the "perfect" boat, but would like it to meet certain criteria and don't want to settle. It's more about recognizing what a fair ...

Great info. Thanks. Yes, that would be tight. I was estimating a 17’ to be about 20’, so maybe 21’-22’ in reality. Probably doable at that length.

Looking for tips for buying a used boat
For a while I thought this day would never come, but it may becoming a reality. We are thinking of getting a small boat (not my 12' aluminum or kayak) for crabbing/fishing/family fun. This will be used with a budget of ~$10k My longtime wish is to get a 20'-ish aluminum such as a Hewescraft or somet...
