Northwest Fishing Reports

So I will be fishing the snohomish this year like everyone else. Not too familiar with it. I run a 14ft alumacraft with a jet. Seems to me the tides run in 6 hour intervals? I just dont want to launch my boat at high tide and not be able to get my boat back out because the tides too low. I'll be launching from rotary park. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can get a tide book at any hardware or sporting goods store and or a free app for your phone or computer so you know how hi/low and when the tides are exactly.

As far as that ramp, Ive never used it so don't know how the tides effect access there.

Top of this page under "Links" there's a link to a tide calculator. Also the App "Hi Tide" for my smart phone. For the Snohomish I like the "Marysville--Quilceda Creek" tide station data. I hear that Rotary Park can be nasty at low tide....muddy, etc. You might consider the ramp at Langus Park. A bit farther to run, but a better ramp I believe. I've never used either of them, however.

Rotary is fine on relatively moderate tides, but if you have a minus tide, then you may have problems with the mud all the way up to Cady. Best bet is to put in on the incoming tide, and take out once it's back in. The fish follow the incoming tide anyway, so it's also smart fishing.

I'd suggest you go down the river from Rotary. Down to the area where the tide will definitely cool the water. Do it on an incoming tide and hope the humpies swim up to check out the river temp. They will probably feel the heat and head back to salt as the tide goes out.

IMO, with a good rain, they will move into the river to the area around Rotary. Then up towards town as long as the water cools. I'm told the change of temp can be minor as long as it is the "right" temp.

They will spawn much closer to brackish water than silvers. I wish all the spawners were as easy to catch as pinks. Good for smoking!!!

Is there a reason why I never hear about people launching out of Langus Park?

Langus is a great launch but it is way down river from where the majority of people are fishing. Langus is less effected by the tides, but you have a long run up river and a couple huge no wake zones to get through. I think rotary is good at anything above a 0 tide, but its been a while. Do NOT attempt to back out onto the mud to launch, it is soft and you will get stuck.

Don't bother with the launch in the town of Snohomish, it is junk.

Thanks Matt. Why aren't people fishing near the mouth near Ebey Slough and Langus though? The same fish has to swim through that part before heading up river so it should really be the same, no?

i fish the sloughs. i think many dont fish there due to lack of knowledge. there are some good spots on the sloughs. the fish do not hold there though or stack up, they are constantly moving, it isnt good for people who are impatient. the fish come in waves and there is definately some long breaks in action. the tides can be a challenge when they are midway between slack tide, the current moves pretty fast. its also a muddy mess around low tide. i like fishing there, but it could be inconvenient for others.

When the tide starts to come in at Everett, how long does the tidal effect take to reach Douglas Bar/lower Thomas Eddy? I have been told several different answers and can't find an answer on Google.

How long it takes will depend to some degree on how big the swing is, so there may not be a single answer. Bigger swings will have stronger currents that reach further faster. See if you can find a tide station somewhere closer to where you want the data for and compare times. Maybe try the NOAA site or do a Google for Wa State tide stations. If you cant find one, then you're stuck with anecdotal evidence.
