New personal best

Post by tmusky1 » Mon Aug 27, 2018 1:45 pm

Caught my new personal best after about 4 hours of scouting Merwin. I didn't get a weight or length as my priority is to get them released as quickly as possible. Honestly, I feel it would've given the state record a serious run for its money but man what an experience!

Aside from what I've read as an armchair Muskie fisherman the past 35 years or so, I don't know squat about fishing for them.
That said - your fish is a PIG!
Nice job!
We should all be so lucky some day!!
Cheers!

Wow! Very nice fish!! I think the fishes head looks bigger than the angler’s head in the pic. Crazy fish!

Yes Quad, my head could've fit in his mouth (that very thought went through my mind as I was cutting the hooks out of his mouth)

You are a True Sport fisherman! I probably would have had to weigh/measure that bad boy, but Ive yet to fish for or catch a Tiger. Very nice monster fish! Makes me not want to never swim in that lake! hahaha

Thanks fisherman92
I've pulled a couple of tigers out of cover near swimming areas and the reactions are priceless! They really don't want anything to do with humans but having felt the bite of those teeth before, swimming with them makes me a bit uneasy lol

Thanks AJ's Dad
I may switch it over but still kinda attached to the musky in my existing avi. That trip was a grind I'll never forget

This is my friend Mike with a 48 inch, 28 lb. fish caught and released in August 2006. Yours looks very similar in size. Below that is Mike's 31.15 lb. fish caught in September 2005 and released after being weighed on the hatchery's scale. Yours isn't that big. I doubt your fish broke 30 lbs., but it's a very nice fish, typical of the 48"/28lb. fish we used to catch regularly at Merwin in the early days of the fishery. It's been many years since we've had one of these brutes in my boat, probably because we're not fishing as much as we used to. We caught most of those big fish near the dam. Merwin's biggest muskies seem to congregate there.
