Seriously, that's pretty messed up that a builder hooked an apartment building"s sewage into a storm water pipe. Not to mention the utility guy/inspector pointing at the pipe and saying "hook into that one."

Glad I wore my waders everytime I went there with a float tube.

Icky. Kids swim in that place. That's gross. I love the old lady who's super pissed about it. I would be too. As a former plumber, I find it hard to believe that someone would hook a sewage line to a storm drain without being a complete idiot! Sheesh, especially with a new construction job like that. The contractor the put that apartment complex in is gonna get sued, although I imagine they'll say that it passed inspection so it's not their fault. Smelly.

The City should be liable as well. City inspectors should be inspecting sewer tie-ins with City infrastructure.

This is an interesting story. Bitter lake is my neighborhood pond. I fish here constantly! Last year I had the experience of a LIFETIME!

Be aware of "Swimmer's Itch" in your local lakes...

Just thought I'd pass along some painfully learned lessons from last night.
Every year for maybe 5 years now... when it comes to June I do all my float tubing in just shorts and a t-shirt. I have never had an issue with any creepy crud, skin para-sites, etc.
Last night I spent 60 min. in my local, Bitter lake. I must admit I didn't shower at home or anything. My tube sits very high in the water and the only part of me that gets wet is from knees down. I was up until 1:00 am with my calves on FIRE!! with the worst itching and swollen hives etc. I knew right away this it was the dang geese poop!
2 showers during the middle of the night, and drank a half bottle of Benadryl. Today I was buying more creams at the pharmacy.
Just saying.... where breatheable waders folks!:-({|=

Oh Chris, say it aint so! I know what you mean, when I worked at NW Hosp I fished there all the time. Eeeeeewwwwwww glad I always wore my waders but hands and arms. I got hit a couple years ago from a EW lake and wow I thought my skin was going to fall off before it got under control. 100mg of benadryl every 4 hours and broad spectrum antibiotics and a bath tub full of cortizone cream. A couple days and it was all better, needless to say I didn't eat any of the fish I caught. I keep going back to Austin Powers, The Spy Who Shagged Me, "interesting, kind of a nutty texture."................

Damn Bodo! Which E WA lake was the itch in? Sounds like one to avoid fer sure!

I was just planning for a trip there 'coz a friend live close by... now change plan......Im thankful for the website and fishermens round here to give time to send out important info.

i've caught and released bass and trout in that lake but have never stepped foot in it.. i wont be returning..

Yeah some of the little lakes get kind of funky sometimes, I think it's really a a bunch of factors, temp, field run off and rainfall. Hti the combo and the stuff takes off. Oh yeah, CALICHE.

I fished Bitter Lake all the time, as a kid, catching bass, catfish, perch, sunfish and trout. We swam there just about every day during the summer too and never got "swimmers itch". Back then there was a public boat launch at the end of Wingard off 137th and on opening day there were so many boats that you could almost walk across the lake.
