Looking for places to take my son fishing

Hi everyone,
I’m a mom to a 13 year old boy, living in Kirkland. He’s showing a lot of interest in fishing so I got him some gear and I have a large raft.
Right now we are trying to figure out how to access Forbes Lake, since it’s small and right near our house.
Can anyone suggest decent places for beginners to fish that are somewhat closer to the Kirkland area? Any and all help is appreciated.
