This new Dragonfly unit Baffles me

Post by Salmon King » Fri Apr 06, 2018 2:51 pm

Ok you Dragonfly masters...I need a bit of help please.

1. I hooked up my new to me Dragonfly E70231 today. Didn’t install it, just connected it to the battery to turn it on and look at the screen. I found this out....

A. There is no DEMO MODE?
If there is I couldn’t find it........ :shrug9:

B. Although there are maps preinstalled they do not have depth contours?
If this is the case then I need to find a chip that will cover Coastal AND Lakes.
If I need to buy a chip...Please advise me on what chip I need to buy.

I must say that although the display is VERY bright and clear...so far I am not impressed.

The owners manual (in English) is a whopping 19 pages long (12 of which cover just the install).

I feel your pain.. I once had either a Lawrence or Lowrence, can’t recall which, and they are different.
Anyway, the instructions were about 10 pages, and it was a $500.00 unit.

Try this: http://forum.raymarine.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=25

The beauty of the internet... there is always a group of people somewhere lamenting the same issues, and now gathering to share their concerns.

I do not have a great deal of experience running a Raymarine but as far as mapping cards go. The Navionics+ Regions West is what you want. It has all of the west coast and both fresh and saltwater. The mapping detail is 1ft contours and the best you can get and the card runs $149.

Here is an example of what you will see on your Raymarine.
