I've never had one, but I've enjoyed all the meats/fish that I've eaten off it. Very good bbq....

I have had a grill for over 2 years and love it! I smoke mainly fish on it. I cook chicken and pork on med. (I don't have the digital readout). Steaks and burgers on high. I have snuck(spelling?) the fish out before it was done smoking so it was like slow roasted.
What wood have you tried?
I have used Mesquite, Alder, Cherry, Hickory, and Apple. I like Alder, Cherry, Hickory the best.
The different wood makes the meat taste different.
I don't think I have any tips or other ideas.

I bought the Texas larger grill last year.My favorite woods are Apple,Hickory,Mesquite,Cherry and Alder.I just bought some Grapewood allthough Grape is double the price.I do alot of Lamb.Grapewood with lamb is awesome.Fruitwoods are such a great versatile wood.I still use my wood fired smoker alot but the Traeger is putting the old one to rest.Theres nothing like the taste of fish, meat or poultry cooked with wood.Good luck and happy eating ....
