When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

I knew someone here loved figs.Is your family from Mediterranean heritage?Figs are eaten alot in Mediterranean and mid East countries.I just made my first 5 pints of fig preserves. The coloring is a rose looking color. The fig meat on this tree is pink.Mine at my house are white meat.

Im with you there.Figs are extremely fattening and very high sugar content.I have a few a season and thats about it.Figs are very versatile. In spain they make a liquor made from figs.Turkey is famous for the dried figs. All my life my family had Fig trees,Italian prunes and grapes.I have all three.

There might be way back. In the near past they are Scotch-Irish, Norwegian, and German...American.

I have two trees. One is a black fig that ripens right before the coolness of October. The other a Green fig is done allready.I made fig jam but it hasnt firmed up yet.It could take a few weeks or more to set.Washington fruit is tough to jam.It seems like everything is juicier then other climate fruit ie..Ca or Tx.

Here is a big :thumleft: for figs. I learned that I really liked them when I moved out to New York City where they were available in every market. I don't think I've had one since I moved back to WA....that was 7 years ago. I didn't know one could grow them here.

I'm with ya RaMcVey, I could eat a mess of newtons...:king:
