I am planning on a little crabbing out of Fort Flagler State park Scow Bay. Never tried here, Any other suggestiong??

Not sure if you are totally new to crabbing or not? But anyhoo.... I have basically the same boat. I prefer chicken for bait. By that cheap yellowish ‘Southern-grown’ variety... the stuff you wouldn’t feed your family.
I do best dropping pots at 80’ depth. Using 100’ leaded line. Spread them out at least 50-75’ from each other. Onviously be sure drop them on a flat bottom, (not an underwater hillside). Some people prefer to be in eal grass, but sandy bottom is fine for me.
I prefer an overnight soak... dropping pots just before dark, and pulling pots before 0800, just to avoid getting ripped off.

But, if that not an option,, then give them a good 3-4 hr soak.

I am fairly new to it and you have confirmed most of my conclusions. Sounds like theft is more problem than I thought but I wanted an overnight soak anyway. The boat ramp is close to campground. Thanks for the info Quadfather

Wondering about my choice of area. Is this part of Admiralty Inlet generally productive?

I am not familiar with crabbing in that area. You could check this websites ‘fishing’ reports for that area, and sub-search down to ‘crabbing’ and maybe find a bingo.
I would not to be super concernd about theft in that area (at this time of year). Just in the fact that there are MUCH fewer boats on the water, MUCH fewer people crabbing. As well as not tyoucally popular crabbing spot. I mean don’t leave them unattended in lots of daylight hours, but you get it...Places like where I go, there are 100’s of pots, and equally 100’s of boats. You are a needle in a hay stack.

Fyi... this was the suckiest year of crabbing I have seen in 10 years in Puget Sound. So bad that after about 3 weeks people just quit going. Clearly obvious by lack of pots in the water.
