Can someone recommend a good lightweight rain parka?

Under 100 bucks would be nice.

That looks good and the price is nice.:)

How breathable is it? In other words, does it make you sweat?

I have used it when it was pouring two weeks ago. It was in the 60's and it was great. Didn't get too hot. Plus I was in waders and hiked about a half mile to my fishing hole. For the price I would recommend it to anyone! Its a great jacket.

Just ordered one.

They had jackets for over $400. Can't imagine what can be that good about them.

Lots. Really, you'd be surprised. A good goretex jacket is rainproof, very breathable, very durable, and comfortable.

I see you already made a purchase, but just in case anyone else decides to use this thread, check out the Marmot PreCip jacket. REI makes their own version of it as well. You can normally get it for around $100.

A good goretex jacket is kinda like a good fishing pole in that, you don't know what you're missing until you've tried one. So, if you don't want to spend $400 on a jacket, don't, and as long as you never test one out, you won't know you're missing out.

Have a fishing buddy that has a Rivers West jacket also... He enjoys it, very warm.

Disclaimer: I'm going to recommend one of our sponor's products. That said, I have the product and it's great. The omni-tech Columbia Wear has developed is better than goretex in that it's more breathable, meaning less of your moisture gets trapped inside next to your skin:

Columbia Wear Rain Gear

I wear this as an outer shell also and it really helps on windy days to retain heat.

I have several Red Ledge jackets, parkas and pants that I'm quite happy with and can be found at Outdoor Emporium, Sportco, Sports Authority and many other sporting goods stores. They are priced in what I would consider the "affordable" range, with jackets starting in the $40 to $50 range and around $30 for the pants.
