Slow boat to Puerto Rico

Post by MarkFromSea » Thu Jan 19, 2012 8:21 pm

Did a little fishing at work this Fall. We caught a bunch of mahi while towing the Pt. Defiance from San Francisco to Brownsville, TX. Later, we caught a bunch of mahi towing a cargo barge to/from Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. Hope you enjoy pictures of the warm weather. At times, it was 120* in my engine room. Talk about getting a little hot under the collar! LOL Shorts and flip flops was the uniform of the day. The ship pictured is the Pt. Defiance that we towed.

Very nice. Looks like a great adventure. I thought you had been absent for awhile, now that I think of it, this must have been the job that you mentioned awhile back.

I signed on for 2 months, ended up being just shy of 4 months. It was an adventure! We caught a bunch of mahi-mahi.
Pictures below: Panama Canal transit, Puerto Rico(looks like New Orleans, actually cleaner) and Dominican Republic(Columbus statue).
