Has anyone heard about the ice on Newman? and has anyone fished it if it is iced over?

Silver lake has 7 inches of "ice," this includes ice and frozen slush snow, etc.

Since Silver is frozen over, then Newman Lake would for sure.

A good friend of mine just called and said that the ice on Rat Lake is now running 8" at the boat launch.

Icefished Newman a couple winters in a row a few years back for panfish, they are difficult to find and if you do find them, they don't want to bite. That is my experience with them and same story from others I have talked to.

If you have any success, do let me know. :bounce:

Get SKINNY if you want to hit Soda Lake...around 1.5" of clear ice on it. Lind Coulee Arm of Potholes has about 5" of clear ice.

Anyone planning to get out tomorrow? I heard from a friend that Sliver had a tough bite, but good ice now. It was my first choice, but I might have to reconsider.

Bring the sonar. Go deep. Go small. Change lures/baits frequently. I managed to scratch out 16 decent keepers this morning fishing 0830-1200. It was a tough day though; Hard to even get sniffers and then pulling teeth to get 'em to bite. Only had one hot run today that lasted about 4-5 fish. Would love to go out tomorrow, but might have to work.

Please post ice thickness if possible. There will probably be a few people that want to go this weekend and I know Silver had just "ok" ice to begin. I will post up on Eloika's ice situation this Saturday after the Packer game. Take care and be smart.

Ice at Eloika is holding strong around 12 inches. The clear ice at the bottom is approx. 5 inches now.

How is Silver Lake ice? It would be nice to be able to venture out to deeper water. Anyone take a look this weekend?

Hey that's great. We hit Eloika today and there is 14" in most areas. One spot, I marked 16". Very good ice yet, but the fishing was so-so...
