It's time again...well almost. So, it's time to restart the thread. Please report ice thickness/ strength and if you wet a line or not. Stay safe and good luck!

According to the long range forecast, eastern Washington may have some ice forming on the area lakes starting this weekend. Low's are suppose to drop into the upper teens and lower 20's.

Russ- Looks for a black Cabela's Hub shelter out on Eloika. We can talk strategies and spots to target.

Very true, Mark.....dangerous cold. We haven't been above -25 in the last week. Overnight lows still dropping to -40. Locals are saying this is abnormal for this time of year, as these temps don't usually arrive and stay until January. It's so cold in the interior that people aren't ice fishing. I'm glad I got out the few times I did......may have been my shortest ice fishing season EVER! Should this weather break, I'm dreading punching holes with my hand-powered Strikemaster! It's got new blades and cuts like a champ, however that ice will be mighty thick. I see a power auger in my near future, extension included, as the ice gets 50" thick or better here. Would make a good Christmas gift, eh?

Eloika is locked up, but still unfishable as of Dec. 3rd. Ice is approximately 1/2-3/4" thickness at the shore. Few more weeks if we don't see a huge dip in temp...

Dec. 10 Eloika's ice is 4.5" at shore. About 10 yards from the bank at the public launch, the ice has heaved, so be mindful of that. After the heave, the ice is a consistent 3.25" across the lake. We spoke with a warden who explained how someone went for a swim today :-& ... I think I will give it another week before attempting the north end.
