Just doing some researching on this site and bouncing info from my Gazetteer and see a nice looking lake about 5 miles NE of the Grant County airport by Moses Lake. From the looks of the map it appears to have public access with no boat launch, can't find this lake listed in the fishing regs and no reports here on it either. Any body have any info on this lake??? BMGW

Looks like Grant County has at least 2 Black Lakes. I haven't fished the one you mentioned but I have fished the one just south of Lower Goose Lake. My wife and I fished it from a canoe several years ago and caught bass, perch and carp.

Thanks, I hope there is someone who knows something about this piece of water. Since you have answered and I see your a big bass fan, I will tell you that the biggest SMB in the state live in lake Ozette. Big water, absolutely no pressure, fabulous structure, BUT set aside everything you know about sassing bass if your thinking about fishing this lake. The key to catching these monsters is number one: water temp and two: perhaps even more critical is the presentation, and a good measure of persistance, because your going to swear this lake does not have any bass in it until you crack that nut. Just key in on those two things and you will succeed. Klahowya!

Thanks for the tip. I knew there were largemouth in Ozette but I had not heard about the smallmouth. I have fished the lake a couple of times from a canoe but never had my bass boat on it. Took my grandson out and we caught a lot of nice sized perch and some squawfish. A big, beautiful lake in a beautiful setting. It also has some very interesting hiking trails out to the ocean. Tight lines, BJ

If you can try and be a little more specific and I think I might be able to help you. There is a dry lake that shows up on maps northeast of Moses Lake called Black Rock and there isnt much there any more. If you have a road that is close to where your talking I could pinpoint the area and give you some info. The one I am talking about is east of Road R NE and south of Road 16 NE.

Lonnie, I see that black rock lake too, it's about 5 miles NE from Black lake. If you draw a line directly from the airport to black rock lake, right in the middle between the two you will intersect Black lake and right next to a smaller lake called Artesian... Back to Bob, my mental mistake on the "SMB" sorry was thinking LMB and wrote SMB, so I am not aware of any Small Mouth Bass in Lake Ozette, I wish there were however! Don

Those lakes are dried up. If you look at google earth you can see that in a little better detail. In the spring there is water in them sometimes but nothing to fish.
