WDFW boat launch near Stanwood scheduled to close for renovations
STANWOOD – A public boat launch owned by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) on the Stillaguamish River near Stanwood will close Sept. 12-15 for repairs.
Starting Sept. 12, the Hat Slough Water Access Site will be closed to the public while a WDFW crew replaces damaged portions of the boat ramp.
Derek Hacker, WDFW access site manager, said closing the ramp during construction is necessary to ensure public safety, adding that the department is committed to finishing repairs on schedule.
“We’re aware that the Stillaguamish River system and nearby waterways are a big draw for fishing and other forms of recreation, and we want to have our ramp up and running as soon as possible,” he said.
The Hat Slough Water Access Site is located 3 miles south of Stanwood on Marine Drive. Alternate sites in the vicinity include WDFW’s Davis Slough and Big Ditch water access sites.
