Fished my heart out for 4 days on the chains last week with near-desperate results. You know the excuses--bad moon, mild cold front, dog days of summer. How can fish suffer when the air temp is 100 but the water temp goes from 71 to 73? So i got 5 pike up to 5.5 lbs. I think i can still count
2020 pike totals on two hands.

The chains always slow down during the summer. Main Cda lake deep weed edges are your best bet this time of year. Hang in there, things will cool down and the pike fishing will heat up!

Yeh, i know Mark but the family wanted to go camping/fishing and the big lake is the pitts for camping. Nothing compared to Killarney.

So in the last couple months I have only got 2 pike and both were very small. The gill netting in Lake PO has turned it into the Dead sea.
I have given up on Pike for this year and it's not looking good for next year either.
Total pike caught in 2020; 65
Number of pike over 10 lbs; 13
Fish over 15 lbs; 6
Fish over 25 lbs; 1
New state record; Now a pipe dream

'That's lousy news, Rick. Guess i will have to look harder for a few pike on Roosevelt now. Tried the P.O. river to no avail.
My next essox is Curlew for a week mid-sept. If they are biting, i will let you know.

I fished Montana over the weekend for pike in the smokey conditions. The smoke was up higher in the mountains when we started at about 6:30 am but it worked it's way down to us throughout the day. It got pretty thick by the time we left at about 4pm. I released 13 pike on the day bringing me to 80 for the year. No monsters. My biggest were 28 and 29" with a lot of smaller ones. My brother got 8 and his biggest was a 32" 9 1/2 pounder.

I added 4 more pike on Saturday the 19th bumping me to 84 on the year. Not a big numbers day but nice fish with a couple of 30"ers and a 33 1/2"er made for a good trip, along with 5 nice large mouth bass.

Fished a new location and I released 8 pike a couple weekends ago, then two more last weekend bringing me to 94 for the year. Fishing was real slow last weekend. Must have been the sunny weather

I took last week off to do some fall pike fishing. The weather could have been better but throughout the week I released 19 pike bringing me to 113 for the year. No monsters but several 30"ers and one 33"er.

Oh they show me all your secret spots and you know that blurring the background like that only makes it more fun to find your honey holes :)

Well, there ya go. You don't need to be unblocked to see what I'm doing. The best part of all this posting is that most people assume that every pike I catch is from Cda Lake. Not so. I have caught fish, quality fish in three different sates this year and, in the past two weeks. I even have Montana guys commenting that they know where I was fishing when the background is blurred out. The only guys that know for sure are the guys I fish with, and I like it that way. I was recently accused of single handedly ruining a particular spot that I fish. That person told me I gave away a location to everyone by posting on this website. That simply is not so. I have shared that spot specifically with the guy that made the accusation, and a couple others but never divulged it on here. Unless that is, if someone recognized the shoreline when I posted a photo, before I started blurring photos. If my accuser is reading this, I can tell you that spot is not ruined. I fished there recently and did quite well. Just because you cant catch fish there, doesn't mean the fishing is not still good. :) Good luck figuring out where my fish are coming from. I'm starting to get a better understanding of photo shop and the blurring will only get more efficient. I hope you're still catching fish out there. Have a great day!

I added 13 more pike on Halloween day, and 8 more last Saturday to bring me to 156 on the year. Isn't anyone else pike fishing or are you not counting anymore?

Not seeing this as a race. Just a convenient place to keep track of how many I catch in a year. 😃

9 pike in the last two trips puts me up to 165 for the year. Not a bad year. Not my best numbers year but I found a lot of quality fish this season. Looks like I'm done till spring. Good luck out there!!
