Island in Lake Kapowsin

Post by Danny1961 » Tue Jul 17, 2018 6:58 pm

A friend and I enjoy kayaking in Lake Kapowsin. We usually have take a break, lunch and have a swim at the dock on the island. Last time we were there we were approached by a gentleman claiming to be security for the tribal owners. He said that we were trespassing and would recieve a warning this time. We have not been back since, but this it literally our favorite spot. We are very respectful of the property and are wondering if anyone knows which tribe owns the island? I'm hoping to make contact and get permission or buy a permit to use the swimming area. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance for your kindness. Danny1961

About 15 years ago i actually worked at the boat rental place on Kapowsin for a summer. People would rent a boat and camp for a weekend or sometimes 4 or 5 days on that island with zero issues.

sometimes it would be a group of young kids, father and son or a sketchy looking tweeker group.....

Although looking back.... it wouldn't be surprising if the tweeker looking individuals where making meth on the island.... Lots of meth issues out their in rural pierce county at that time.

Anyways.. I have been on that island a few times and it's full of trash.. beer bottles, propane bottles, trash.. and more trash...

I guess the natives got sick of it...... I dont blame them.

It's sad that a few have ruined it for everyone.
Thanks for your input.
