Great morning on the river, weather was great and river was in good shape. Unfortunately, no fish. Saw one coho caught all day. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Last day before it closes to salmon fishing on the 19th......

This report has been a long time coming, but I finally managed to exorcise another demon of mine today. This particular demon just happened to be chrome plated, complete with a set of fins and an insatiable desire for my hand tied light blue/dark blue maribou twitching jig. I should also specifically mention that this aquatic adversary lived in the Stillaguamish River. Two years ago I hit the Stilly hard during October, primarily fishing dick nites. No fish. Last year I fished it less, but still made a few trips, mostly twitching jigs and tossing spinners. No fish. I had not yet caught a Stilly Coho. As it so happened, I got off of work this morning and found myself with a nice chunk of time. Deciding to take advantage of this opportunity, and wanting to give the Sno a rest, I headed out to my old Stilly haunts down near Blue Stilly Park. Twitching my way through the run with a black/purple jig produced nothing. Heading back to the top I tied on a black/pink rabbit fur and got back to work. Part way through the drift I had an old pink show interest. At least it was something. Landed and released, I continued on until I snagged and lost that jig. During last year's season I remember receiving a tip that blue can be good on the Stilly, so on went a two toned blue maribou twitcher. Still no love. Moving on, I crossed the river and headed down to Agua Incognito, still in search of that first Coho. Finding a nice seam next to some good looking frog water, my steady twitch was abruptly stopped by the very welcome interruption of a Coho inhaling the jig. Battle ensued, with the stakes as high as two years worth of expectation can afford. Giving the fish room to run, I slowly started easing it up into the shallow water of the gravel bar I was on. Despite some final theatrics and aerobatic death rolls, my hook set held true and I quickly dispatched my worthy adversary. The curse of the Stilly Coho is gone at last.

Tight lines!

Hit the Stilly by Silvana just after sun up. Went to a stretch I had not fished before but "No Trespassing" signs that suddenly show up prevented me from going to my favorite spot. Fishing was awesome except the fact that I was catching Pinks and not the preferred Silvers. Granted, the Pinks were bright and full of life. I guess the Silvers are still hanging out in the sound waiting for the water to rise.

Fished the Stilly today. Caught over 2 dozen humpies today all in the mouth all released. got my 1st coho of the year missing half his tail but nice fish nonetheless. All caught on small green dicknite. An asian coulpe came fished ontop of me about 2 feet away with plenty of room (200 ft to the right of them all empty) drifting their gear 5 min at a time so I couldn't cast at all. they saw i was catching fish so they took my spot so finally i told them to go up river and away from me. When someone is in a spot first you cant take their spot everytime they re-rig. Some people dont have any river etiquette and its rude. Ive never had to tell anyone to move before but this was ridiculous. Other than that 5 star day for many humpies and the coho and all of the great people I chatted with through out the morning.
Tight lines!

Went a few hundred yards down from the forks to try for some coho. Got 3 pinks to the bank. 2 in the mouth 1 big buck in the top fin, all released. I had many more bites. Looking to find an early coho. maybe this weekend will be better. I was lazy and didnt switch out gear much. had all my pinks on a tiny green frog pattern dicknite. small weight and drifting with small twitches worked best for pinks. Ill be trying lower on the river saturday morning to see whats going on down there.

Started Fishing at 7 fished until 10, only saw a couple rolling where I was at, casted a hole for twenty min or so with nothing then moved up river and BAM! Fish on first cast and it was a nice and chrome 4lb silver. Bit small, but it's early for silvers and I did see a whale in there jumping around , couldn't hook him though. Gave it a three because it was my first silver of the year. After that first fish I could not get another to bite.... Good start rough finish. Couldn't even get a humpy after that.... Had a couple follow my gear to shore, but that was it. I hear the pinks are in heavy in some areas though. Freinds of mine catching 20+ fish in a day. I'm going to try up river tomorrow seems to be where the fish have moved to. Silvers are still slow so don't get to excited. Hopefully by the end of next week I'll be getting my silver limits again! Forgot my JIGS too!!! I think I might have been able to pull that big one out with a jig... Anyway thats my latest adventure, more to come, and posts will follow.

Been fishing the sound with great success but decided to hit up the river from 1 to 4pm not a lot of people at the haller park area but I went down river a little bit and was using my steelhead setup pink and purple 1/8 ounce jig under a float about 4 ft I caught probably 30 fish by the time I left and constantly caught fish the whole time never went more then 5 min without a fish and even caught some nice chrome fish with sealice on them the key was to cast literally across the whole river and have it within 5 ft of the other bank even though I did catch fish in the middle I just did better across the river all fish were released unharmed will be back tomorrow morning and see what the morning is like

Went to the Stilly where the old Tavern used to be in Silvana. There was about half a dozen fisherman with no luck that i saw. Only was there about an hour and tried various set ups again. Didnt even get a bump and there are A LOT of fish in there. Idk what the deal is. Ive never experienced such stubborn humpies. I see others are having good reports out there so i will try again. More excited for Coho, but if i cant hook into humpies then Coho will be more difficult. Idk what the deal is.
