So since getting a fishing kayak this year I had yet to walk the bank of the local river yet. I went out today since my wife is using the van (that I put the kayak rack on) all week. and wow the water is higher than it ever was last year. I had to walk a long way down from my favorite spot from last year before I was into slow enough water to fish. I also forgot sunscreen and it was ridiculously hot very early, so it was a very quick trip also. Ended up with four smallies and one lost on a heroic jump. The very first (pictured) was a great fighter and was the largest. Caught on a red Panther Martin. I never used inlines last year and kept gravitating to a bobber/fly rig. Today I got one on the red PM, two on a brown Rooster Tail, and one on the fly.

Tried the Spokane River between Nine mile and the mouth of the Little Spokane today for Majestic Mountain Whitefish from the shore. No luck with whitefish did catch and release 3 rainbows with two between 6-10 inches and one at 15 inches. Pretty fish with intact adipose fins. All caught drifting a small piece of worm on a three way rig. The river is really flowing.

Got up early this morning before work and hit the river up around Flora. I haven't been down there for a few weeks since the "hoot owl" restrictions kicked in. In slightly over an hour of fishing I caught 17 smallies and lost a few more to jumping fish shaking the hook. No size to any of them at all but a good time all the same. I brought two poles, one with a fly/bobber setup and another with a swivel I changed between a two small countdown Rapalas and a small Pop-R. The fly/bobber combo outfished the other 15-2! I only wish there was a bit more size to them, my second outing to this spot I caught one that was at least 3 times larger than the best one caught today.

Fished the Spokane arm of the river in post falls both Friday evening and Saturday. despite the boat traffic we were still able to locate some smallies near the greensferry road on the south side of the river, ranging from 8"-14" all caught on strike king kvd crankbaits. also caught some in the same area Saturday and down by Qremlin park just east of the bridge.

I am new to this site so bare with the rookie.
I recently went on the Spokane river near riverside state park and caught 4 epic fish in 3 days recently. I caught 2 walleye over 20 inches and 1 large mouth about 3 pounds and a BIGGIN' 7.2 LB small mouth bass. ....CRAZINESS!

Tough outing tonight. Took my brother in law to my recently discovered honey hole and only landed three fish between us. Barely any other bites, didn't lose any (normally will hook and lose quite a few jumpers). There was a noticeable fresh algae scum on the rocks and a massive fly hatch neither of which were present last week or prior so the conditions possibly played a part. I haven't reported every time but have fished here every Tuesday evening lately with pretty decent success. Last week was drilling them on a Pop-R right here tonight not a bite on it.

We are thinking of trying closer to the state line next week. The water is super low, I'm new to river fishing but I can see how it might not be holding fish like it has potential to right now. Might head down to deeper water AKA Long Lake also.

Fished the same spot as last time out just up from the Flora trail head. Didn't get nearly as many fish to shore but landed one really nice one. This seals it, I'll be fishing this river extensively this year and onward! My wife even caught one. She had a great time.

First time targeting smallmouth in this river after reading some reports on here that they are in there. Between Barker and Flora as the sun was going down they were hitting on nearly every cast. 3/32nd jig head w/ a single barbless hook with a soft rainbow colored 3" shad brought in some decent ones and also threw a fly and bobber after missing a bunch of smaller fish. Caught a lot of dinks with the fly. Probably at least a dozen fish to the shore in an hour of fishing. The two pictured were the nicest ones of the bunch, they fought good and hard.

I hit the river about 730 am, at mirabeau , using dry flies, and nymph when the temp got hotter, caught 2 decent cutthroats and lost a couple more. I post pictures later tonight. the river is in good shape right now, which is kind of scary, hows the rest of the summer going to be?

Went out to the river at about 6a.m. just north of Bowl and Pitcher. Fish for a couple hours and caught a beautiful redband rainbow on an elk hair caddis. First time catching something that size in a river.
