Although the bite is a bit slow for most I still have been able to pull limits of Chinook the fish are very hard to stay on top of but with a good network of other fishermen a guy can map out a good game plan and stay with them. Most of my fish are hitting herring brined in Pautzke blue Fire Brine scented with Herring Smelly Jelly. Hot flashers seem to be Shortbus Sweet Abby, Electric Pole Dancer, Orange Crush. I did catch a few large fish on Brad's cut plug stuffed with tuna, Herring Smelly Jelly, Pautzke Krill. Fish the High Tide on the Oregon side or Washington side above the Astoria Megler bridge ON THE BOTTOM.

Spent a couple days on the river down by the Astoria bridge. A bit quiet yet but I'm certain the fish will show eventually.. We averaged 3 kings a day but really had to put in the time to get them. They all averaged between 17 lbs and 25 lbs.

Fishing out of Astoria, Oregon was fantastic again today. We started on the Oregon side just above the bridge and found ourselves in a wide open bite. I had two customers today and we had 10+ bites in the first hour and a half. We killed two very nice Chinook and culled through a few smaller fish trying to get one big one to round out our boat limit of Chinook.

After our first few hours the fishing slowed down for us and we landed one more nice Chinook that we also decided to send back in search of just one big fish. We ended our day without finding a third fish that we wanted to end our day on, but all in all it was an absolutely fantastic day of fishing.

I still have some openings I have August 15th, 17th, 21st, 30th, and 31st open for 4 seats, and the 16th, 18th, 19th, 24th open for 2 seats. Please check go to the book now button on out home page or give us a call or text at 208-861-0654 and let's get you a seat booked for this fantastic fishery! ?

Today was our first actual guide trip of our 2016 Buoy 10 season. Overall fishing was good today. We started our day fishing above the bridge on the Washington side of the river, and got into a decent bite at the start of the outgoing tide. After one fish landed and a few other missed opportunities we kind of hit a dry spell. We did some searching and had a few bites here and there, but just could not really get any thing to go until just after low slack. Just as the tide was starting to push in we found ourselves in the middle of a great bite again on the Washington side of the river above the bridge. We finished our day going 5-8 with some great salmon heading home with our customers.

For anyone who is interested in fishing this Buoy 10 seasonwe still have some great openings. We have August the 15th, 17th, 21st, 30th, and 31st open for up to 4 people, and the 16th, 18th, 19th, and 24th open for 2 people to join in a boat.

Fishing here in Astoria has continued to be on fire!  We are have been landing limits of 20+ pound kings daily.  Yesterday  we had all 5 of our Chinook by 10 am.

We have been starting our mornings the past few days just above the bridge Washington side. Most mornings the bite here has been absolutely fantastic. About an hour and a half after the tide change we moved down into the church hole and started working toward the fort. There was a decent bite down there but it was a little sporadic and you had to be perfectly on the x. As low slack hit we made a run down to the Illawco area to see if we could find a few silvers on the tide change. We managed to land one hatchery silver and a few more Chinook.  We ended our day a with 10 Chinook landed and 1 hatchery silver.

This fishing should remain absolutely lights out through the end of the month. As of 8/24/15 we will only be able to retain hatchery Chinook below Tounge Point. This just means we will be turning a few more fish loose to come up with our keepers, but with the amazing number of Chinook down here I don't anticipate any issues finding limits.

I still have a few openings the next week and a half. I have 3 seats open the 26th, and one seat each day the 28th, and 29th,  and full boats the 30th and 31st. Don't miss out on this amazing fishery!  Give me a call at 208-861-0654 and let's get you on the river.

The Astoria/Bouy 10 fishery has continued to fish amazing. Yesterday I ended up with just one customer in my boat due to some unforseen issues with his group, but we put a whack on the fish. We landed a total of 11 Chinook and 3 Coho.  It was a fabulous day especially considering we were only fishing 2 rods.

We had most of our success fishing fresh cut plug herring and whole anchovies trolled behind a red and chartreuse fish flash flasher with lead near the bottom. We started our morning above the bridge on the Washington side at around 6am. We immediately found ourselves in the middle of a wide open king bite that lasted about an hour. We then followed the fish down through the church hole and picked up a few more out toward Chinook. We fished the incoming tide starting way down at the bottom of the sands almost directly out from the entrance to Baker Bay. This is where we found our Coho. As the tide really started to flood in we found ourselves in another wide open king bite. We fished our way back up to the bridge and called it a day at around 2:30 pm.

If you have ever wanted to come down and this amazing fishery now is the time I have the following dates open: 8/23, 8/24,  2 seats on 8/25, 8/26, three seats on 8/28, 8/30, 8/31.

The fishing should be nothing short of fantastic the next two weeks.

We had a fantastic morning today down here at Astoria/B-10! In 4 hours we landed 7 kings and 2 keeper Coho. Fishing has been fantastic.

We started the day at daylight down at the bottom of Desmonia sands directly out from Chinook, WA in about 30 feet of water. We held in this area through the last part of the outgoing tide. Just after low slack we started trolling back up river with the tide toward the church hole. There was a very good bite just after the tide change. We continued to follow the tide and the fish all the way up through the church hole up toward the Astoria Bridge. We finished our Chinook limit in this area and after a little more fishin targeting Coho we decided to head in to port as we were really only hooking Chinook.

I have some openings the next few days. I have 2 seats available on the 16th, 17th, and 18th. I have full boats open the 19th and 20th, 23rd. I also have some more dates available that following week. The fishing is truly amazing now and should only get better as we approach the traditional peak the last two weeks of August.

Give me a call or text at 207-861-0654 to book your Astoria/buoy 10 adventure.

Finally got camp all set up down here in Astoria and got the kids and wife out for a quick morning trip. Fishing was absolutely fantastic from the get go! We didn't even have lines in the water 2 minutes and we had our fist Buoy-10 season king laying on the deck. We proceeded to hook 3 more fish in the next 10 minutes. After about an hour and a half we had landed our two kings and released several coho before the boys dedided they wanted to go to the beach more than mom and dad wanted to finish their Coho limits.

We started just above the bridge on the Washington side and never needed to change locations. Our bites came using green label herring in natural and dyed blue pulled behind 8" fish flash flashers.

The fish are here now and with every season this year starting a little early I see no reason why this Fall Chinook Season would be any different.

I still have some openings over the next month including this upcoming weekend, also with a team of 4 guides dowm here we can fit people in most days. If interested in booking an Astoria fishing trip give me a call at 208-861-0654

Very foggy to start the morning but it was worth the wait. The fishing was excellent as the fog lifted the rods went down. 12 hook ups with 6 kings and a silver in the boat. 3 cookie cutter fish 21 pounds and a few 12-14 pound fish to round out our limits.
