I thought my last trip to Baker was a few weeks ago, but couldnt stay away. My dad, 5yr old daughter and I launched out of Swift Creek Campground around 6:30 am and headed to the Noisy Creek side. Got first rod set down 40 ft on the downrigger in 160ft of water and started trolling east towards the Shanon Creek side. Started snapping the dodger onto the second rod and i notice the rod tip is bouncing on the first rod. I pull it free from the release and hand the rod to my dad to fight and we get our 1st and only fish of the day at 7am in the boat. It was a small hen about 4lbs, and missing half of its tail. We trolled till 12pm with 2 rods on the downriggers from 25ft all the way to 75ft and a rod straight out the back with a 4oz lead 20 pulls out. We used the usual pink hoochie and dodger rigs and even tried 2 bare red 2/0 hooks. Only about 25 or so boats out and weather was mostly cloudy with some sun breaks and water was smooth the whole time. Didnt see a single other fish landed and most guys we overheard said they had nothing. Well, see you next year Baker.
