Where to start. I was fortunate enough to get invited on a 3 day kamikazi trip to Neah Bay...word was the salmon bite was on and the bottom fish usually cooperate. And boy howdy. We had our salmon limits by 9, and headed in to the rocks to find bottom fish. We found plenty. I could mention depths, baits, speeds, etc but I'd just be talkin' out my you-know-what, because it was my first time doing this. Now, it ain't that different than other fishin', except the walleye chop is a little more than a chop and jigs are more like anchors.
We left Wenatchee Thursday night and arrived in Neah Bay at 2 in the morning. We launched the boat and moored it, to be floating before a minus tide. After two hours in the rack, we ventured out into the fog and mist. An hour later, we were into salmon at swiftsure bank. I never knew pink salmon were so big and so numerous....we couldn't keep them off the gear. After releasing many (lost count), we moved a bit and found the kings. Never did find any silvers, so we left and went after bottom fish. After putting a few of those in the boat, like the ling I'm happy with in the picture, we decided we better get camp set up so we headed in. My two cohorts are pretty proud of our bag as shown in the second picture.
