Rode the rising tide up to the bone yard by the bar areas in my boat. There were a few other boaters there. Saw silvers slashing the top in a few areas. Saw a few jump. Fish were in about 4' of water around logs.

Very fishy morning, but fish didn't think so. I tried everything but jigs. I tried eggs too. I snagged 1 zombie pink and caught a few sculpin. No one else caught even 1 fish in my area even though the fish were all around, tide was high and had cloud cover.

It was an exercise in launching the boat, casting and loading the boat. I'm sure you guys know that tiring drill. Sometimes they don't hit.

Perhaps you need a fishy deck hand aboard. I went 3/5 and missed several bobber downs and other takes today. Off the water with limit in tow by 1pm.

Hey Jon. The other boat guys said no takers. However, I snagged a wiggle wart on a log and left it till just before I was taking off. Scooted in slowly to the big log in a deep pool to get the lure. Wow, saw about 50 silvers scatter all over moving from my boat. They were there in a very small area the whole time.

I'm not too proud to admit I have to learn each lesson the hard way. I think my egg fishing was sloppy. I also think I should have used an 1/8 oz jig or maribou fly in the shallows around the logs. Water was super clear and it seems the presentation should be excellent or much smaller/ both. I'll learn. Funny that you never stop learning about salmon.

Try a size 3 blue fox in that shallow water, and run it close to logs. Ive gotten at least a dozen hook ups like that this year. Purple, brass, blue, and dark green are my favorites.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it. I have several blue fox, but not purple in that size. When I got home I thought of just such a thing cayse of reading a previous post of yours.

With the current rain the water should get a little more color and that should make it easier. It looked green but in close you could see everything. That usually means smaller sizes to me. Also, good delivery of the bait or lure. If it were bass, it would have been time for a nightcrawler or crawdad- live bait with natural action.
