got to the fish hatchery around 7:20 from spokane, launched and ran upriver a ways. LOTS of boats, as we ran past the first large groups we saw at least 5-6 boats battling fish. got to my spot, sent down the gear. Fished one seahawk superbait 5' behind a silver flasher, and a hot tamale super bait 5' behind a green glow flasher. Both produced 2 fish, but the seahawk produced more hits.

5 minutes into the troll WHAM. handed off to the 12 year old in the boat, for his first salmon at about 18 lbs.

we had a few that didnt stick but by 11 all three of us had one a piece.

it was fairly consistent action with a hit every 30 minutes or so until about noon.

after that it slowed a lot. managed to get the kid one more jack and called it a day.

the researcher checked my fish and said that we had done better than lots of boats that day. he and i were both surprised that our two biggest fish were both fish at about 22lbs each.

overall we were 4/7 with the fish that popped the release, had 10 or so fast one hits, or bang bang moments where the rod was bouncing and then just stopped when the fish didn't stick.

i am going back with a different group next weekend and hope to hit the water just a bit earlier. good luck!!!

sorry no photos this time.

sorry... i meant to say "our two biggest fish were both hatchery fish at about 22lbs each"

amazing that i fish brewster all summer and put back wild after wild, then when it doesn't matter i can catch some clipped fish.

Thanks for the report kshorey. Were you back-trolling?

some, sometimes we held position and moved across the current. sometimes a very slow upstream troll while weaving. sometimes a downstream troll.

two we kept were picked up going down stream. but we had hits doing all of the above.
sorry for the late reply
