The resort is drawing down the lake quickly so glad to get on the lake while we still can. In just one week, more ribs on the launch ramp show...six exposed now.

Fished 11:30-4:30pm with cloudy skies and light wind. The water temp had actually declined since last week. Darn near perfect fishing weather in our book. Overcast skies kept away the tourists so the lake felt like ours alone. After just about an hour, a man was passing us taking his boat back to the ramp and asked if we'd caught anything. We'd already caught and released five and marked fish in one particular area consistently. He said he'd not marked a thing. (We think he needs a new electronic. Always fun to spend someone else's money, right?) .

Trolled mostly, but after a hamburger lunch aboard boat, mid day decided to see if the bass were moving towards shore yet so started plugging. Yey, they are coming up from the depths and we started the great fun of deciding which lure to throw to motivate the largemouth bass bite.

P. learned quickly that if you catch the largest bass of the day, you get put out on the rock. LOL. He knew the right password and was allowed back in the boat. (But of course he caught a few dinks while in time out....)

I got the body count - 11 trout, 3 bass. P. was just short with 11 bass and 2 trout. And K. caught and released 8 trout and 4 bass.
We all lost fish and a couple mystery big ones that still have us curious. I also get a kick out of finding some kind of lure on almost every trip, but today I reversed roles. Had on a small bass and my line broke with about 30' feet out on the poor fish and my good lure. He's going to drag hardware for awhile. Thought it was a problem in the reel so took off that reel and put on another. About an hour later another lure went flying. I managed to grab the tag end of the line as it was sinking and rescued the lure. Thought the thing in common was the rod. Sure enough my favorite rod had a broken ceramic ring inside the tip eyelet. Ugh. Now to make the repair.

Gotta have some kind of war story, right?
