Had some bites on eggs this morning but couldn't get them to stick...Moved just upriver to the next spot, no bites on eggs and so started casting a Chartreuse and Orange Fire Tiger Blue Fox Size 4 and hooked the biggest fish I've had on all season!

He was pulling drag and trying to shake the hook. Fought him for a few minutes and got him 8 feet off the bank...The spot is really tricky to land...High Bank with only a 2 feet wide by 5 feet section down the steep bank below me to stand on...

I kept the line nice and tight and he just sat there facing upstream in the current just above me...I thought I could try to turn him to get him closer so I could jump down and land him...He thrashed his head sideways and out came the hook...Uggghhh!!!!

He was the biggest one I've had on all season...I saw him really well...Had to been at least 8-12lber...a little color but still nice and bright. Nice wild fish too! Huge Adipose on him.

Next time I fish that spot, I'm bringing a net! :)

I also need to replace my hooks...

Darn stupid barbless from when barbless rules were in effect, either on the Cowlitz, Satsop, or wherever I fished it last...Uggggh! Still tore up over losing that one...Nicest fish I've had on yet...

That's the 3rd fish I've lost this season cause I had barbless hooks on...I totally forgot that spinner was barbless or I would have tried harder to land him more quickly...He was a big fish though so much harder to land without playing him out at least a little.

Didn't have much more time to fish today and so casted back out a few times and had a few more strikes...After one strike the darn thing leaped into the air...Some nice fish in the Green right now.

Wondering what area you were fishing on the green. I was there recently and in 5hrs drift fishing ended up with a bunch of pinks all released (should have kept the 3 hens I landed for the eggs but decided not to lol). Got the usual story "you should have been here yesterday" ??
Not sure why but I've never had any issue with barbless hooks, I choose to run them no matter if I have to or not and don't lose fish...

Heck yeah! Eggs are gold! Was in Kent below 167...Some nice fish coming through...Yeah, I saw a few spawned out pinks in the shallows and swimming downstream...The spot I was fishin' is a tough spot to land one...Bringing a net along next time :)

Gonna definitely switch out my hooks.

Thanks man! You run that on a spinner? I was thinkin' of either some Big River Baits and Trokar open eyes...

I meant on your eggs. Spinners. 3/0 offset siwash. Or 3/0 big river bait hook

Yeah, I thought you meant eggs...Appreciate the recommendation :) I just bought some of the Big River Open Eyes today to put on my spinners! Landed a nice silver today with one of them. Great hooks!

Are the pinks all colored up over there?

Yeah, only been seeing some zombie pinks Mid-River...Maybe a few stragglers (getting late for pink run) down low that are fresher...

Thanks! Did I run into you and your dad earlier today? Quite a spot and I'll have quite a report once I get time to post it!

Headed down in the morning. Any recommendations of where to start out? Hit pea patch earlier in week and only pinks and a king.

Cool! It was great meeting you both! I caught a nice King about 10 minutes after you guys left. After getting my gear packed up, I drove down around the corner to let you guys know about it. Was gonna tell you there were some biters in that hole! Totally nailed my eggs! Didn't see ya though...looks like you guys pushed on. Did you guys wind up having any luck? I'm posting a report about yesterdays excitement right now.

Not sure if you'll get this as it's way past mornin' but I'd stay lower for fresher fish...Anything below 167 should be doable...Without much rain, seems like a lot of darkies up Auburn way. Fish Kent and below for fresher ones. Good luck!
