My daughter Merrill and I arrived Friday nite but bad weather kept us off the lake until Saturday afternoon. We paddled our canoe to the north end and portaged it up to North Windmill. I've had good luck here in the past and since it's a hike-in only lake, I'm always the only boat on it.
We fished from about 3-5 pm and again for about an hour and a half at sunset with no luck. Tried rapalas, wedding band spinners and even Powerbait.
Next morning I picked up one 13" rainbow in about an hour and a half. Then I portaged back down to Windmill and fished about another hour with no hits.
I spoke with one gent who was trolling just off the bottom with worms. He had two rainbows and told me he usually had good success on Windmill with that technique. Everyone else I spoke to said the fishing had been slow.
