Headed to Brown's this weekend for a family camping trip and, of course, some fishing! Almost canceled the whole trip due to forecast calling for rain, t-storms and much colder temps but, having planned it for 2 weeks, decided not to break the kid's hearts. Yep, it was cold (mid 50's) but only light rain and no t-storms. Surface water temps still under 60 and water crystal clear. We caught fish all day long, particularly from 12:00 to 2:00, on everything from chironimids to nymphs to emergers. The most effective technique was using a float line and beaded hare's ear. We'd cast near the bank and allow it to slowly sink (no indicator). Usually about 20-25 seconds into the sink the line would take off! Several fish were caught this way and were the largest, ie cutts at 14" and bows up to 16"...not bad for a mountain lake! Also, our trip yielded more rainbows then cutts, something I did not expect. What a beautiful little lake and campground...will return in a week or so!!!
