Nestled in the foothills of the Cascades, Lake Cavanaugh feels off the beaten path, but in reality is 17 miles from I-5 and Puget Sound. The lake has good populations of cutthroat trout and as we discovered in this video, some big kokanee! NEWS FLASH - WDFW has planted Lake Cavanaugh with triploid kokanee! Some big fish will be coming out of this lake in the coming years!

Wow.......... I fished Cavanaugh all last year and had a few limit days, a lot of Cutties, but never any size Kokes like these! I guess I missed out because I relocated to Liberty Lake in Spokane. I'll be hitting Coeur d' Alene to try to compete. Cavanaugh's a beautiful lake and is not too crowded, like Lake Stevens. Enjoy
