Do you have a Washington or Idaho Licence and permit? Clarkston is only a couple hours from Spokane going down HWY 195. If you can fish Idaho you can fish from both sides of the Clearwater at the mouth where it goes into the Snake River. Set your bobber about 18' depth and use a jig and tip it with a whole red dyied Shrimp. That seems to be the best method most people are using. Good Luck!

You use an ajustable bobber, and he probably did mean 18ft, you want your bait within as close to the bottom as you can get it.

You want to find a good "hole" where steelhead would be holding...

Yea slip bobber. 18 feet is a pretty deep hole, never been on the Snake before, and unfortunately I can't help you out with specific spots. Your best off going to a local tackle shop around there and asking them if they wouldn't mind giving in to helping you locate a spot. Ask them what works best too, those local tackle shops always know what the best lure/tactic is for the local spots..

If I was home and not out of state at college, I'd be fishing as much as possible out on the salt for silvers (Area 9) and then hitting the rivers (Snoh and Sky) for anything that would hit a green hootchie jig or a 50/50 dick nite (late pinks to CnR or some silvers)

I'd probably be doing some trout fishing now that lake temps have dropped back down...

Anything that I can catch I'd go after. But the season is salmon so I'd have to take advantage of that first....

travislikesfishing, I read this article today about steel head on the snake river. It dosnt help with any locations but here's what it said: "Steel head are hammering purple and red dyed shrimp in recent days. Most fish are still A - runs between 5 and 8 pounds. Bait fishermen are catching 70 percent of the fish. Candy apple red and blue pirate Mag Warts are doing well for gear guys".

It also gives a phone number of who to contact. Stu Waters at Waters Edge (509) 758 2474

If you give this guy a call he can probably help you with some fishing spots.
Hope this helps.
