Hey guys. After a 20 year break from fishing I took up Bass fishing this year. I have to say I have had a hard time. I live in Pierce county and have fished a couple lakes out here and only had luck one time. I have tried rubber worms and crank baits but it wasn't until I tried using a crappie jig did I get my first 2 Large Mouths. (they were small). Would love any advice on best practices or even find fishing buddies that don't mind teach a old dog new tricks.

I look forward to doing some fall fishing and see if the Bass pick up on biting.

Thanks guys and gals!

Todd

Watch the videos here on NorWest Fishing Reports, they'll help.

Watch some videos on Youtube, dropshot, soft plastics (worms senkos etc.), crankbaits, topwater etc.

Go down to Limit Out Performance Marine in Pacific and they can tell you how and show you the rigs that work. They usually have had seminars during the summer, but none this summer.

Join a local club and talk to those there.

Lakewood club has seminars at lots of meetings.

One thing that has really been working for me is the "fly and bobber" rig. I started fishing it for trout, but bass absolutely hammer it. You have to fish it slow and be patient which isn't for everyone.

Other than that, I like to fish soft plastics, jig n' pig, and love me some top water! Occasionally will do crank baits (mostly lipless) when trying to cover a lot of water and/or there isn't obvious hidey holes to cast into.
