How to get quickly banned...

Post by Mike Carey » Sun Sep 27, 2015 8:18 pm

This is a fishing report web site. If you send harassing PMs to another member about posting a report, expect to be immediately banned by IP.
If you ever get a harassing PM, please contact Admin. "Those people" have no place in this community.
Thank you.

thanks. We can't stop PMs and rude comments from happening, but we can delete these people when they behave this way. But guys have to tell us, so we thank members that alert us to the problems. :salut:

One more example of how some people seem to think that fishing locations that are public waters are their personal property. They act like you're steeling from them if you talk about it or share it with others or even know about it at all. The whole "secrete lake" mentality. I understand it but dont agree with it.

Thanks for handling this the way you did Mike. There is at least one other site out there that is just the opposite and actually seems to encourage nasty behavior from members. I Like it here much much much better!

Amen to that Larry!! I love it when people think they own public animals and spaces. There are some real winners out there. Thanks Mike for keeping our community in check as I am proud to be a member here!

I think your censor is broken, word #2 passed through but it caught the others. I couldn't help but chuckle at that.....but yeah pretty lame that someone would send that kind of message. The fact that they (sender) are logged in here tells you that they are looking at reports for their own benefit, but then obviously not wanting to contribute. It would be interesting to know how many people visit this page that have never posted a report. I've had a couple people I know casually recognize me from my Spokane River report pictures and say they saw them on here, I ask if they ever post and they say no I just look at the reports. Nothing wrong with that I guess, but I like the idea of sharing info/tips. If someone posts about a spot I like I'm not going to get butthurt, I'd be interested how it's fishing and how they are fishing it differently than I do.

The majority of people that come to this site do not post fishing reports, which is why we are so supportive of those that do. To give you an idea, every day this site gets visited by around 8,000 anglers, give or take a couple thousand (our record is around 14,000 unique IP addresses in one day).
So ya, most people don't report. It would be great if more would share their experiences and use the site to it's full potential.
Once guys start posting reports I think they realize, not only is it great to read other peoples posts, but as you post year after year you'll have your own posts to look back on and review. I often will check my old reports for run timing now. It really works great!

Yup, I've read some of my old reports a couple times. Once or twice I've just shaken my head. And sometimes I've said to myself, "I remember that".

I've only been taking notes as I catch each fish the past 3 years so the reports can come in handy, as well as fun. I'm very jealous of Bob Johanson's ability to write notes, remember them, and be able to look them up quickly.. [laugh]
